El Sureno Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Powdersville

This is one of the closer Mexican restaurants to where my family lives on the west side of Greenville. There were several restaurant options and I’m glad we chose this place.

Overall, a positive experience! The food was fairly priced (much cheaper than Papa’s and Beer, for instance), requisite quality, tasty, but the service was slightly chaotic. We had three separate people ask us for our drink order, and four people served us during our meal. So I’m still not sure who our designated server was. You could view this as a positive, as it gave a small family feel, but I think it was less by design and more by lack of organization. It didn’t really impact our dining experience that much. My wife ordered tamales, and se really liked the sauce on top. I ordered a combination plate of burrito, enchilada, and ground beef taco. Plenty of food, and probably a bit better than your average Mexican place on flavor. Nothing mind blowing, but just what I was hoping for on the night. Simple, straight forward, no frills Mexican. I prefer Baja style Mexican, but I’ve not a found a place like that in Greenville yet. If you get excited about different salsa options for your chips, then this place will disappoint. My whole family (mother n law and father n law included) LOVES to eat here. We go about 4 times a month. They have DELICIOUS food. The place is clean. They have place to sit outdoors and eat. The servers are great they bringing you fresh homemade fresh chips and salsa. Mild and hot salsa. Even the refried beans are fresh and homemade. This is the ONLY place I eat refried beans. It has been consistently good over all these years. Let me tell you I dont know what they do to their sweet tea but, its DELICIOUS. If I could give 0 stars for Ashley, I would!! She over charged us by almost $11 from the original receipt and then tried to argue with us about how she didn't, then when she realized she over charged us, instead of apologizing, she told us that she didn't charge us for two drinks that were originally on the receipt that we got!! The food was okay but definitely not good enough to draw me back in!! I will never go back and I highly recommend to go somewhere that is honest and has better food!!
