Betty Rae's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Prairie Village

It’s really sad to give Betty Rae’s 3-stars, but feel like I have to based on a sad downward trend. If you asked me a few years ago where to get the best ice cream I would have said Betty Rae’s without hesitation. My wife and I had the Betty Rae’s truck cater our wedding! However, over the years I’ve noticed the quality gets a little worse every time. This was exemplified with a visit last night where I got two scoops of the rotating flavors. Both were icy to the point where you could hear the ice while chewing. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and justify my experiences by saying it was just a bad batch or a bad day, however the trend is definitely noticeable. Betty Rae's has awesome ice cream...but this location in particular has struggled logistically. It's not been open several times during the lunch hour even though the opening time is listed as noon; once the door was unlocked but the chairs all up on tables and the worker nowhere to be found! Almost went back to start scooping myself...They need to get with the program functionally to match the goodness of the dessert. Also - the flights are a great deal if you like the flavors. Went in for the first time. Paid $7 for two small scoops and $8 for a peanut butter shake that was liquid. Terrible value. Shakes are $8 🙀 for a 14 oz cup (which they say is 16oz). We measured the cup in oz when we got home to see if they are truly 16oz cups (crazy to do that but it felt are taking advantage of people for the price paid, and they are).
