I was incredibly surprised to see how well-rated this cafe is. Very inflated ratings that are not at all reflective of reality. My experience below: Spent $26 on a coffee, toast, and small tart. They don't tell you before bringing you the tart they bring it in the back and dump confectionary sugar on it. It lacked flavor, the crust was stale and impossible to bite into, and the entire dessert was just lackluster and nothing to write home about. The salmon on "sourdough" came out on a non-toasted, stale thin piece of wonderbread (see photo) looking bread, and the salmon was rancid. Finally, there were flies flying around everywhere and it wad disgusting. Easy to get rid of flies with a fly trip in the back of honey and vinegar. Don't let them land on people's food and drinks. Very much a turn off. Do NOT recommend. Will not be coming back. Again, absolutely SHOCKED at these reviews. I do have to say the service was very good, the people that work there are very kind. But everything else was very disappointing.
Changing my review of this place to less. Looking at other reviews the quality of food they serve seemed much better. If they run out of good ingredients for a dish then don't offer that on your menu that day. Instead of artisanal sourdough I was served wonder bread. And one thin...
Read moreA couple of month ago, my friend took me to get pastries at this lovely shop. OMG! How have I lived in Princeton and not discovered this place earlier?
The first time was when the weather was sunny and beautiful and the hostess served us in the courtyard at the back of the store. And it felt decedent, as if we had teleported to a Parisian or Italian village to eat fine desserts, relax in the sun, and enjoy a leisurely conversation.
Since that time, I have sampled many of the pastries and desserts and so far they all have been phenomenal. Way better than any others I have tried in the area. They are made fresh daily and with so much care.
The host/baker is extremely kind and welcoming but not obtrusive. She, my friend, and I were talking about pastries from my friend's home country and the next time we visited the baker had expanded her menu to include the pastries my friend was discussing with her. I gave another friend of mine who is a professional baker some of the pastries and even she agreed that they are exceptional and well made.
I am so happy I discovered this treasure of a place. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't visited to check it out...
Read moreUpdate: I want to bump this to a 5, hours thing hasn't happened in a really long time. I've also been able to meet the owner few times and she's the nicest lady. I love that this is a female owned local business. Please support them if you can their pastries are delicious and so fresh!
The food here is great! I would give a 5/5 for that but I docked one star here due to the inconsistency of the hours of this place. They either don't open on time in the morning, sometimes are still making desserts, or they randomly close for a day and you wouldn't know (unless you checked google) since most people don't check every time before leaving for the store. That being said the quality of the pastries/food is consistently great and the ladies inside are super friendly which is why I go back. If you happen to pass by definitely give...
