Worst Chinese food I've ever had. I got chicken chow mein. When I opened the container there was what looked to be dry cut up strips of rotisserie chicken (as if from the grocery store) piled on top of am entire container of celery in a sauce. All celery. No other veggies. I don't like celery and I have never had chow mein with celery. So i ate my meal without the sauce. Just chicken and rice with crispy noodles. I tried adding soy sauce but even that had a odd flavor. I didn't know pre packaged soy sauce could be bad? Even the wonton were lazily thrown together I had to crack it open in order to spread the cream cheese around so I wasn't just eating dry wanton. Basically this was very Americanized "chinese" food.

I ordered Gen Tao Chicken. The sauce was perfect and vegs fresh and nicely sautéed. My only complaint was the rice was cold and the chicken texture was like it had been put thru a tenderizer machine which makes the texture different than I like it. My dinner was $18+. My husband had the stir fry shrimp and scallops with vegetables. He said was excellent. His cost $21+. So with tip our meal was like $53 for the two of us. That is generally on the high end for us. But it was a lovely place for a nice date.

Sharing pics of the delicious Moo Goo Gai Pan I ordered last night. Had arrived early for a meeting so I could enjoy supper with others. The staff has always been attentive, and last night I think they’re starting to recognize me. I think I’ve only been there three times. Food does not disappoint and the staff does a good job of anticipating your needs. I would suggest not ordering the same thing every time you go just so that you can get a better idea of what they have to offer. Until next time …

We had high hopes for this restaurant but the food was very bland. I ordered general tao chicken, it was cooked in a sauce that was so heavily molasses based, I couldn't taste anything but the molasses. I also ordered it on the spicy side but it was incredibly bland. My friend ordered orange chicken, mild, and it was flavorless. It had no orange flavor at all, it was like it was cooked in a thickened chicken broth with no seasoning. I may not be an Asian food expert, but this food was not at all like anything I've eaten before. Just flat and 1 taste profile (if that). We took everything home and doctored it up with garlic, ginger, soy sauce and I added red pepper flakes to mine. Does General tao chicken have a molasses base? So weird that my food was basically drenched in molasses. I really liked the layout and atmosphere of this restaurant, but I don't know that I'd risk the food experience again. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was almost empty. I'm not sure if that means anything but we did notice it...

Wow, so disappointing. I have long favored, D. Fong in Bloomington, and the D. Fong in Savage, so I assumed the D. Fong is Prior Lake would be as wonderful. Wow, so sad! And I have been looking forward to General Tso chicken, and it was beyond disappointing. I should have realized something was amiss when the parking lot was empty, the restaurant was empty, but hey the D. Fong name has a great reputation. Also, the food was served almost immediately upon taking the order. I thought it was odd, but it was so overcooked, that I truly believe it was heated over so often that was ready to serve immediately. General Tso Chicken is usually plump nice pieces, what they served was hard tough fried lumps. Was truly awful. I also asked for spicy and it had zero, like seriously zero spice and no flavor. It is difficult to cook a Chinese dish and have no flavor at all. Will not give this place another chance. And will always recommend others to visit the D. Fongs on Hwy 42. Such a sad experience for a get...

Not too many Asian restaurants really stand out. Fong's in Prior Lake not only stands out, they've raised the standard! From a spotless kitchen and bathrooms to THE EXTRAORDINARY appetizers and entrées. Proprietary recipes exemplify the talented chefs at the Prior Lake location. They've thought of everything regarding authentic American Chinese cuisine regarding blending flavors, the sharp creation of proprietary sauces, and the care in preparation. Even the unsweetened iced tea has an amazing blend of herb and tea leaves. This family run business deserves a visit at least one visit...Fong's Prior Lake will be seeing me once a week, indefinitely. I had two entrées and an appetizer. I won't tell you which ones because you really need to consume that menu. (Okay, okay, ya bent my arm) Mandarin beef - spicy, Chicken Mushroom Chow Mein, Fong's Wings, and Chicken Wonton soup. Again, PROPRIETARY recipes, crafted with years of experimentation. If they won't serve it to mom, they won't...
