Butcher Shop — Restaurant in Providence

To be honest, I had heard mixed reviews about this place in the past. I should have heeded that warning. Today, I decided to give it a try for take out breakfast. Coming from the west coast and with everyone being so health conscience, I was disappointed to learn that they didn't carry chicken or turkey sausage or bacon. I instead I opted for a breakfast burrito with chicken.

Service was pretty quick I'm assuming because there were only 4 people seated and eating, with no one else at the counter except for a potato chip vendor anxiously waiting to be paid. A very stoic woman asked for my order, hurriedly took it and I proceeded to wait. I couldn't help but overhear her and another employee (male) complaining that the owner or manager was too cheap to hire someone for some odd job. The fact that they were so brazen about an internal issue while others were around, was all to telling to me.

Finally, after waiting about 15 min my order was ready. I looked inside to make sure the order was correct and to my surprise there was what amounted to MAYBE one egg in a burrito with about a tablespoon full of chicken, along with some onions and spices. I'm not a big eater but found the portion size for around $8 to be ALARMINGLY small.

Not even a thank you or please come back. For that much money and lack of service, I could have driven a mile to McDonalds and fed 2 people. I believe in supporting local business' over the larger establishments. But again for the lack of service, decent food portion, and not feeling that my patronage was valued, I will most certainly take my business...

Would give it zero stars if I could. Usesd to go here daily for lunch when I worked nearby, maybe 50 times. Nowhere else to go in the area... you kind of wander around until an employee asks you if you'd like to place an order. No system in place for ordering. Seems all employees are either challenged or don't care. They have an order ticket that has check boxes for legitimately everything on a sandwich or burger, and almost every time they got my burger wrong. Almost seemed deliberate because nobody can be that stupid. Saw a coworker order an Italian grinder and the bread was so hard that the entire inside of the sandwich exploded when he tried to bite it. A handful of times I got a pizza slice and asked for it reheated, 60% of the time the same old lady brought it to my table literally black. Staff incredibly slow even when there's a minimal amount of customers. The male cook who Im guessing is the owner/manager may be challenged. Became a running joke at work to guess what would be wrong with the order that day.

Oh, and the prices are an affront to the advancement of humankind. The wealthy clientele don't care about paying $18 for a quick bite so the owner takes full advantage. Avoid this place...

Really? Breakfast was as disgusting as the cook. Attitude. Expensive. Sparsely buttered toast. Home fries fried. And the cook was mean. He was terse. A family came in and they went next door. Find a new job if you don’t like the clientele. And the outside table was beat. Rhody hen. Julian’s. Nicks on broadway. Francesca’s. Waterman grille. Avenue n. Amy’s. Never again. About as bad as modern diner in Pawtucket. 15$. Two eggs. Burnt toast. Teaspoon of butter and an attitude. Why because I wasn’t dressed to kill? Frank and Laurie’s is worth a wait.
