I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Lippitt House Museum, and what a dream it was. We had 45 guests and it was perfect for a more intimate event. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous, and I received many compliments! Jane was also very easy to work with and very accommodating. She was prompt in answering all of my questions, and helped ensure that I had a stress free day. Just a few notes if you decide to use Lippitt house as your venue, if you want a outdoor ceremony you have to provide your own chairs. Inside we has access to tables, banquet chairs, and high tops but you will have to provide all linens and additional decorations (though the venue is so beautiful you hardly need to decorate anything beyond centerpieces). I highly recommend Lippitt House for any events!

We took the guided tour and had a very enthusiastic guide who knew many esoteric details of the Lippitt family's history. Highly recommended if you are in the area. Don't expect the grandiosity of the Newport mansions, but go moreso to learn a bit of the daily life in and around Providence in the 19th century.

My wife and I chose this venue for our wedding ceremony. The building itself is beautiful, unique, and if I was only writing this review for the building alone it would get 5 stars. Unfortunately, the event rentals go through an organization called Preserve RI. The rental agreement states you have 2 viewings prior to your scheduled rental. When my wife and I showed up with our parents to show them the place for the first time, I asked if the Friday before the wedding could be used for the rehearsal and our 2nd agreed-upon showing. Kristen (events manager) told me that our initial walkthrough of the venue counted as our first, even though that was before any agreement was even signed. Additionally, when things got closer to the wedding, our primary contact, Kristen, basically bowed out of working with us and then we had a completely new individual to work with, Carrie. The first time meeting Carrie was at the rehearsal - the day before our wedding. She was very unpleasant. She told us all our guests had to wear masks at the ceremony even though our in agreement with Kristen we were clear that masks would not be required. There was clearly a lack of internal communication/coordination on their part. On the day of the wedding, after the ceremony while we were taking pictures outside, it got chilly so a few members of the wedding party went inside for a few minutes to warm up. Upon entering, they were met with an angry, arms crossed Carrie who stomped her foot and shouted at them that the rental was over and then closed the door on them and locked them outside - talk about customer service. Overall, just a pretty terrible experience working with the Lippitt House staff and added a lot of unneeded stress on my wife and I in our wedding planning. They even gave my wife a super hard time about showing up over 15 minutes early to get a few photos and to put on her dress. I would not recommend anyone to do any business with...

The Lippitt House is a magnificent survivor of a bygone age. The house represents some of that era's very best. The Lippitt family has taken great care to preserve the house and its furnishings so you truly get an authentic feel for what it must have been like to live in such a grand house 160 years ago.

Jane gave a terrific tour! She was very well informed and passionate about the house and the Victorian period in general.

Full disclosure: I am a docent at the Victorian Mansion in Portland, Maine. Although comparable in their grandness, the two houses are very different despite the fact there is only a five year difference in their ages.

I would highly recommend taking a private tour of the Lippitt House. It was not rushed and...
