Gluten-free bagel was pretty bad, even for GF standards. The texture was a combo of cardboard and sponge that you often get after defrosting something that has been frozen for way too long. I would have liked to have gotten a vegan sausage patty on my sandwich, but it was an additional $5.99!! I can get a 6 pack of beyond sausage from Whole Foods for about $3.50, so not sure where this up-charge is coming from. The GF bagel was already an extra $2.99; that would have been a whopping $17.77 breakfast sandwich with the sausage; just absurd!
That being said, I'm not trying to dissuade people from going here, I genuinely want to see more locally-owned places like this in the city. Since this place has potential (great location, good regular bagels), I would suggest to the owner that they consider being more GF & veggie friendly. This is the direction the country is going in (healthier, more plant-based), with a large contingent of those people living in this city and particularly on the east side of Providence. Please don't punish people for wanting to be healthy!
I will happily change my review if...
Read moreI waited half an hour and paid $11 for two toasted bagels. When I asked three different times how long it will be they never gave me a time they just kept saying that it’s coming. finally got fed up after my dog wouldn’t stop crying because she was like why tf are we waiting so long?? so I had to leave her in the car and go back inside to wait some more. I checked on the order again And they still hadn’t started it. It was two toasted bagels. By the way, the gluten-free bagel is Udi’s which I have in the freezer at home. I am disgusted by the service. they kept cooking whole entire sandwiches before just throwing simply two toasted bagels in the toaster, slapping some cream cheese and throwing them in a bag and sending me on my way first. Instead of taking care of the customers that are here first in person, they were doing Uber eats and DoorDash orders before the people that were here first and ordered something so simple. I will never be back -5 stars do...
Read moreMy husband and I walked to KNEAD for donuts and because I hadn't eaten breakfast yet, the Eastside Bagel sign caught my eye. I got a caramel latte for my husband and a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel and an iced coffee for myself.
Pros: Good atmosphere, lots of seating, very friendly staff, quick service, good coffee, cute play area for kids, very clean, location next to KNEAD is great, they use whole eggs on their sandwiches (not a huge fan of the baked egg slabs some places use), the bacon they have is crispy
Cons: Sadly the texture of the bagel was really soft (think "bagged from the grocery store" soft). If this restaurant was called "Eastside Sandwich Company" I'd give it more of a pass, but I did expect a chewier bagel. Maybe if they toasted it longer or if I didn't get it to-go it would have...
