I am so disappointed to be writing this review. We've been regular costumers are Mondoz Z and Z for two years and this experience has completely put us off. Tonight we ordered a chicken parm sub, a medium Hawaiian pizza and mozzarella sticks over the phone and were told it would be ready in 30 mins. The quality at Mondoz has been slipping for some time but at this point is almost unrecognizable. The problems started from the moment we drove up to pick up our food. The parking lot was packed and the restaurant was packed with a large group of people developing a menu for yet another restaurant that would be in this location (there are already 2 Mondoz and Biryani place). We arrived at the restaurant about 35 minutes after placing our phone order. When we went to pick up, we were told it would be 10 more minutes. Went back in 15 minutes later at which point they said 5 more minutes. We ended up waiting approximately half an hour (a total of over an hour after placing the phone order) to get our order. Even at check out, we weren't given an opportunity to understand what we were getting. The machine was broken so no total was displayed and no receipt was offered. Upon getting home, we discovered that the restaurant upcharged by giving us a LARGE pizza when we asked for a medium and TWO chicken parm sandwiches instead of one. Had we been able to see the point of sale number or if the person at checkout actually told us our total or gave us a receipt, we could have contested it. The upcharge aside, if the food was at least good, that would be one thing. I got a large "Hawaiian" Pizza with literally 3 small pieces of pineapple per slice and an imperceptible amount of ham. My husband's sandwich was similarly just mostly cheese with the smallest pieces of chicken cutlet. Both of our meals were really unappetizing (and honestly mostly a mess of cheese). This is not the meal we signed up for at almost $60. Sadly, I don't think these longstanding customers will be back unless there are some big changes. It's really a pity because the owner has always been one of the nicest people but unfortunately, he was nowhere to be seen tonight. His staff does not seem to be living up to his...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place — after all it opened next to my favorite bar in Providence! However, I was severely disappointed both in quality and service.
TLDR; at the end.
To start off, I ordered a pepperoni pizza and a buffalo chicken pizza after seeing the reviews here; however when I arrived to pick up pizza I was told that my pizzas had been given to a doordasher just moments before I arrived and the pizzas would be ready in 20 minutes. The person behind the bar clarified that I ordered a pepperoni + buffalo chicken pizza and then disappeared for a little while. After they returned, I was asked again what I had ordered, but instead of confirming buffalo chicken they tried to confirm I ordered a chicken + bacon + ranch pizza — at this point I corrected them and said I ordered a buffalo chicken.
After waiting 30 minutes and being offered a free drink (they serve caffeinated drinks and coffee, and I was there at 9:30pm on a weekday so definitely didn’t want any of that), I was finally able to walk out with two full price pizzas 🙃 Upon visual inspection, the pizzas appeared correct but as soon as I bit into the “buffalo chicken” all I tasted was ranch and bacon bits. There was a smattering of hot sauce on top of the pizza, but it was obvious this was not what I had ordered and Mondo had tried to cover up the mistake.
As far as the pizzas go, the sauce has no seasoning to it, the crust tastes like it was a frozen crust from Costco — but the silver lining is it appears they use some high quality mozzarella. This was still not enough to save the mistakes of the night.
TLDR; this place makes an OK pizza for the area (Tony’s is better), but:
•giving my pizzas to the wrong person, •making the wrong pizza, •making me wait 30 minutes,
AND then making me pay full price are all reasons I will...
Read moreBest halal pizza spot in the New England area and some of the best you’ll find on the east coast. The owner is Palestinian and super friendly! There is a good amount of clean seating space and clean bathrooms. Great operating hours as well (open late night)
Our go-to order is a buffalo chicken pie with beef bacon added on. The dough is the perfect combination of crisp and doughiness. The buffalo chicken has a great crisp and flavor, and the cheese is quality.
The meat is verbally verified halal. For those looking for hand-slaughtered chicken, it is available upon request otherwise they usually use machine slaughtered chicken from restaurant depot.
Overall, this is a must hit if visiting RI. Follow our page on Instagram @newenglandhalaleats for...
