INCREDIBLE food for the whole family: When we heard that Brasa y Chifa was a new restaurant from the team at Los Andes, “like Boston Market but way cooler,” we were very excited. Needless to say, it surpassed our expectations!!! I first noticed that as you walk in, on your right there is a vintage mural of Cott Cola from the old exterior that they kept (I had seen it over the course of the building renovations and took a picture hopping they’d keep it and they did!). I love that it’s a nod to this longstanding cozy neighborhood space.
The staff are all super friendly and happy to answer questions or accommodate requests if possible.
We had Pollo Chaufa (chicken Peruvian fried rice), Veggie Chaufa (veggie fried rice with quinoa and scrambled egg), Brasa Salad (loaded with veggies and quinoa), half rotisserie chicken meal with 4 sides: beans, salad, rice, french fries, and fresh pico (delicious not spicy salsa). We also had a couple sides of the chimichuri and do yourself a favor: grab two or more sides of it because it’s AMAZING!!!
They have a focused variety of drink options: we had water, Dogfish Head IPA, and a staff member recommended the Chicha Limena that we all enjoyed (purple maize slightly sweetened drink). Next time we go, we’re excited to try the margarita and sangria.
We finished with a warm, crispy and creamy Dulce de Leche filled churro that was perfect for sharing for a little something sweet to finish out exceptional meal.
My husband said it was THE BEST rotisserie chicken he’s ever had. We hope they offer just a whole rotisserie chicken on its own to go if we need a quick family dinner option.
As a pescatarian I loved the fresh crisp veggies in the Chaufa (broccoli, asparagus, bell peppers, scallions, pea pods, etc.), and the chopped salad was super fresh (get the dressing on the side). Both the Veggie Chaufa and Brasa Salad have quinoa in them which I LOVE because it’s a complete protein. I would love a seafood protein option to be to added, like shrimp, on the salad or Veggie Chaufa so I’ll ask for that next time (they have it with other proteins in the Aeropuerto Chaufa).
Our VERY Picky 8 year old loved the fries, chicken, rice, chili Hutu and of course the churro. She tried so many new things for the first time which says a lot about the quality!
LOVE the focused Peruvian/asian fusion menu. LOVE that there’s something for the whole family , the portions are large, and the prices are great. LOVE the fresh and carefully crafted quality of all items. LOVE the warm, welcoming staff…a definite hidden gem. We can’t wait...
Read moreAll right here we go maybe I came here on the wrong day or the wrong time of the day which I don’t think so because it was about 4pm But the food today……like charlamagne tha god said to safaree freestyle….”Nahhhhh this ain’t it yall this ain’t it. I ordered the $30 rotisserie chickens with the 3 hot sides and house dressing I can say only thing I felt was really good was the house dressing. My chicken was average wasn’t all that flavorful. For the 3 hot sides I got yuca fries, fried rice, and lo mein I wanted veggies and they looked welted and mushy soaked in soy sauce i asked if I can get fresh batch and the cooked told me that’s all that we have 🤷🏽♂️ being it was 4pm and I was spending $30 but ok so I settled for the yuca fries. The yuca fries would be good if they were hot but they were not. My rice was mushy w/ no flavor no I lied I tasted the soy sauce 🤦🏽♂️ that’s about it. My lo mein was horrible I love lo mein so I definitely was disappointed… it was dry and taste just like soy sauce as well…it’s like the Chinese infusion part of the food all they use is soy sauce for flavoring being a chef myself working with Chinese food there are more spices herbs and sauces then that. And halfway thru my meal my stomach was just like no this ain’t it. The cooks have great personalities the atmosphere felt cool the place is nice to dine in for 2 or a small group but to me the food is overrated I basically gave them my $30 bucks for food that no one in my house wanted to finish and got thrown away… the economy is not so great now so if I’m going to PAY!!! $30 dollars for a plate it better be worth it and today it sure wasn’t. I know everyone is different and has taste and different experiences n mines today was the worst sorry to say my guys…. I think I was better off just going to my dude on Prairie ave w/ the rotisserie chickens then going to China town on Thayer st getting my lo mein and veggies and getting my moneys worth. I told myself maybe I should of got the steak but now….I don’t even want to take the chance …if someone else buys it for me to try I will, but me coming out of my pocket again to order something from Brasa & Chifa will not be happening. I swear I was so mad today I wanted to bring the food back for a refund but I had already plated and served it to my family. My advice adjust temperature on your stem tables it’s making all your Hot sides mushy and brine the chicken some more man them Peruvian flavors ain’t hitting like they post to...
Read moreI recently ordered the Brasa Tray and got to try their Dulce de Leche Churros and the Chicha Morada drink. I had high expectations since this was a place I’ve been wanting to try in person, but I was blown away by the presentation of the takeout—it’s hands down the best I’ve ever seen. • The Food: Everything was absolutely delicious. The oven-roasted chicken was by far the highlight. Coming from someone whose mother owned the famous “El Fogón” restaurant, I know how oven-roasted chicken can sometimes turn out dry and flavorless. With Brasa’s chicken, that was not the case—it was juicy, flavorful, and without question, the best oven-roasted chicken I’ve had here in Rhode Island.
The pork ribs were excellent—soft, tender, and the meat literally fell off the bone. It was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The fried yucca was incredible—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just how it should be. The steak paired with the chimichurri was tender and full of that fresh, herby goodness. The chaufa rice and lo mein added a nice mix of flavors to round out the tray.
The sauces also deserve a shoutout. The yellow sauce was especially good with a nice kick of spice that added extra flavor to the meal. • The Churros: The Dulce de Leche Churros were delightful—crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. A perfect treat to finish off the meal. • The Drink: The Chicha Morada was refreshing and unique. It tasted like flor de Jamaica (hibiscus), and it paired perfectly with the richness of the food.
I obviously didn’t eat this massive tray by myself! I shared it with my family since I had been lucky enough to use a $40 gift card for Grubhub. It was the perfect meal to enjoy together, and Brasa and Chifa exceeded all my expectations.
The flavors were on point, the presentation was top-notch, and it felt like a high-quality dining experience, even at home. I highly recommend giving them a try, whether it’s for takeout or dining in. You won’t regret...
