Oh. My. Goodness. My little one, still in the "everything-goes-in-the-mouth-unless-it's-actual-food" phase, is already a Pizza Marvin superfan. We haven't even cracked open the box yet, but the sheer gravitational pull of this Providence institution had him absolutely mesmerized. He just stood there, practically vibrating with anticipation, calculating the exact number of hours, minutes, and seconds until he's old enough to sink his gums into a slice. A Five-Star Future for Pizza Marvin! Let me tell you, if unadulterated infant fascination is any indicator, Pizza Marvin in Providence deserves all five of its stars and then some. My little guy, who just hit the two-month mark and currently subsists on a delightful formula mixture and existential wonder, was absolutely captivated by your establishment. I mean, we’re talking full-on, wide-eyed, drool-inducing obsession. He literally looked like he was running complex algorithms in his head, figuring out precisely when his tiny digestive system would be ready for a glorious pepperoni pilgrimage. While I can't yet confirm if your crust holds up to the rigorous demands of a teething two-year-old, or if your sauce has the perfect tangy-to-sweet ratio for a discerning four-year-old, I can definitively say that Pizza Marvin has already won the heart (and future patronage) of one very excited baby. The curb appeal alone is enough to inspire dreams of cheesy, saucy goodness for years to come. So, while I'll have to wait a few more years to give a truly "human" review, rest assured that the future generation is already on board. Keep doing what you're doing, Pizza Marvin – you're inspiring dreams, one tiny, drooling...
Read morePizza Marvin is becoming an institution on Wickenden Street, and for good reason. I'm a square pizza guy. Give me Sicilian, give me Detroit, I'll always go for the corners over a circle. And Pizza Marvin delivers with the square. I got slices. A tomato pie slice, a cheese slice, and a pepperoni slice. All of them were terrific. The crust is medium thick, airy, crunchy, buttery and totally on point. The sauce is fresh and brassy. With the cheese and the tomato pie it was a little sweet. With the pepperoni slice, it was a little spicy. And when I say pepperoni slice, there were at least 15 pepperonis on this square. Overflowing cup and char ronis. Too much to be honest, but it's better to have too much than not enough. Pizza Marvin is known for fresh, high quality, outstanding pizza. They were a James Beard finalist, so that tells you everything you need to know.
The selection of beverages was a bit lacking. There's no Coke or Pepsi, just specialty soda that it's hard to tell what it is in the cooler. So I just went with water to save myself the aggravation. Seating is a little odd as well, unless you want to sit by a window at a counter or one of the two or three little tables inside. There's also a nice outside patio space but it's been so hot and humid out. That's not really a great option.
Overall, this is a great place to get some slices or a whole pie. Nice people, great food, great tunes playing on the radio. Can't beat...
Read morePizza Marvin rules the Fox Point neighborhood for its chill Sunday patio scene. I went last week and split a corny AF pizza (with a bonus addition of stracciatella) and a Caesar salad.
There were ample picnic benches to choose from outside that were nicely shaded from the sun. Our Caesar salad came out first the the greens were super crunchy and crisp. They also have fresh dill on their Caesar salad which made it even more refreshing in the heat.
Pizza came out next and I have to say it was super impressive looking. They forgot to add the stracciatella, but the kitchen was able to take it back, add the extra cheese, and get it back to us in what felt like no time at all. The Calabrian chili gives it just enough heat to tango with sweet summer corn. 🤌✨
Great pizza, great service, great summer Sunday patio vibe. Hoping this pizza is on the menu beyond summer. Time has a way of melting at Pizza Marvin—so if you need a weekend eat on the east side of PVD...
