I can tell this used to be a really great restaurant. But I'll not be returning. Feels like it has lost its focus on quality. The ribs came out cold, dry and almost so Smokey that it almost tasted like fake liquid smoke. the "beef" was leathery and not appealing, first time I've ever taken 1 bit of a rib, and 1 bite of the beef and said nah I'm good, the Mac N cheese had no flavor, the Coleslaw tasted old... The appetizer sampler came out with the food. It was decent - but obviously pre-made national food distribution heat and serve. $46 for a dinner for two at a "rib house" would normally feel like a decent deal. But the fact that I sent back my plate with only 1 bite out of the two items and the server's response was "oh, you didn't like it" and brought back the bill like she wasn't concerned or surprised... I wasn't looking for a discount, but I was expecting awknowlgement that it wasn't the norm.. I rarely say this.. But I'll never be back, and anyone I hear saying they are coming here will be told: it's not worth it, even if it's free..

Stop number 4 on the @rifoodfights #lordofthewings challenge: @wesribhouse. I was very excited to try this as I skipped lunch so I could have room for their ribs. They have been in Prividence for 50+ years but they were not on my radar - which I am disappointed in myself, as I love BBQ. The bartender recommends the hot honey wing BUT I decide to go with the house BBQ sauce as I assume it is made in house. I was not disappointed. The sauce was not overpowering and complemented the smokey flavor of the wing. The wings were a little crispy. I would have preferred more “crisp” but I suspect that is the trade off for that smoked flavor. A lot of meat on the bone and little fat. Another solid entry! The ribs were very good. Pork ribs (not baby back, so big. I got a quarter rack and it was enough!). Great flavor. I added a bit of their hot bbq sauce and enjoyed the experience. I also had the collard greens, cole slaw, and corn bread. I was stuffed (and left a bit I couldn’t finish. Bonus: there was a flyer for @improvpig in the entrance!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Absolutely atrocious and we all ended up sick. Nothing we ordered came right, the collar greens had an actual film on them and were soured. They must have spoiled, not noticed, and microwaved them directly in the proportioned cups. The macaroni and cheese was dry and also had a crust form, all of the food was hot on the edges and cold in the center like the only cooking device was a microwave. Service was absolute HORRIBLE. I've never seen a waitress so unaware of the menu or what she was bringing out in my life. When we told her something was wrong, she put her bare ungloved hand in our plate to sample a peice. When I manager was requested, there was none on site. The table behind us also had issues and recieved no service food or drinks for over an hour, completely forgotten with only 4 tables filled. I would not ever come here again, nothing was clean, rotten food served, reheated food, all orders wrong.. save your money, go somewhere else.

I almost never leave comments but I took my fiance here being u hadn't had soul food in awhile and my fiance had never had it and was craving bbq the service was good not great but the food! Came out cold hard I mean it was worse than pulling a plate if leftovers straight out if the fridge not heating it and eating it only difference was it was hard like you put it away in a fridge uncovered and we both ordered all different things but everything. Ame out that way when I said something about it the waitress took our plates came back what could not have been more than 2 minutes later dropped both our plates and an appetizer we didn't order of fried pickles I believe it was and those were hot the plates were super hot like I burned my finger on it but food was still cold my Mac n cheese if you have had it there has all white gooey chz on top and shredded chz sprinkled across the top I s able to pick it up turn it upside down and the shredded chz didn't fall off ...so yea I dunno if they put our food in plates fresh out the dishwasher or what they did but we left with all of it in boxes paid for all of it and gave it to a homeless man along with a 10 dollar bill and I told him I literally didn't touch it but it's cold and looks gross so if ur not interested buy something else to eat with this.. So yea I couldn't even give it away free without feeling bad and I grew up loving this place this rly sucked now where do I go for brisket corn bread baked Mac n chz...

I remember frequenting Wes' with family when I was a kid. Back then, there was a long outdoor staircase, and when you walked in you were directly in front of the smoker, which had a glass wall so you could see exactly what was going on. It was fascinating and I always loved watching. That's gone now, unfortunately. I've come back for takeout a couple of times and it's just not as good as I remembered. The chicken has been dry and ice cold to the point where I had to actually put it in the microwave because it was just too cold to eat. It felt like there was no way it had been heated up, I don't live that far away and it wouldn't have gone that cold so quickly. It was cooked, so I assume they pre-cook a lot of it and just heat it up (or don't?) as needed. The baked beans, which I remember being my favorite side, were just so-so, and also cold. The only part of the meal I got that was warm were the fried pickles, which were delicious. They do give you two different types of BBQ sauces, one more mild and vinegar-y and one more thick and spicy. Staff has been friendly. I'm mad that I forgot to get myself a piece of cornbread. I wish that was something that came with your meal, and not something you need to buy separately (I think it came with meals years ago when I was a kid!). I do love that they're open really late on the weekends (4 am, and 3 am the rest of the week), as I work sometimes till 3 am so I can call in an order and pick it...

This is NOT the Wes's that I knew from years ago. Pulled pork was cold, ribs were so tough you could not cut or chew them, beans and cornbread were horrible. We were a party of 7 and not only did we not get our meals in a timely manner but, the orders came out wrong. When we asked the manager why the long wait? He replied, "What do you want me to do about it?" "They are fighting for their lives in the kitchen." REALLY? Were they fighting the pigs??? The owner came over to the table and we all told her that the ribs and pulled pork were not hot and very tough. I told her they used to fall off the bone and the puled pork used to be called, Chopped BBQ. She replied, "We used to make them that way but, people complained that they fell off the bone so, we made them harder." "We had the original recipes but, they got lost in a fire." WELL, You Succeeded to make them very hard. I only gave the 5 star for service because of the bartender who was a true gentleman and, felt badly that we were all very dissatisfied with our uneaten meals. I would take the McDonald's Rib sandwich over their ribs, if that gives you any idea of how bad they tasted and tough to cut and eat they were. Needless to say, we will never go back there. Go to Chili's or Applebee's for ribs, you'll...
