One Star — Wouldn’t Return Based on Service Alone Where do I even start? First and foremost, the service here was trash. I don’t know who owns or manages this place, but the staff working during my visit had zero interest in doing their jobs properly. This was my first time here — my friend suggested it based on a coworker’s recommendation. When she walked in, she wasn’t even greeted. No “hello,” no “welcome,” just a blunt “pickup?” Like... huh? Already felt off. I joined her at the table and we started catching up. I was parched, so I drank the water that was already on the table. The server came over and asked if we were ready, but we were mid-conversation and hadn’t even looked at the menu yet, so I let her know we needed a few more minutes. When I did look at the menu, I noticed it was super fusion-heavy — almost every roll had sweet plantain and cream cheese. Not a single basic cucumber roll or anything simple. Just overdone combinations all across the board. Then things got weird. We’re sitting there, still waiting, and I start to look around — every table had hookah, but barely anyone had food. It felt more like a hookah lounge than a restaurant. Meanwhile, we were still waiting to be served, and the server didn’t come back until everyone else in the place had already gotten their food. At that point, it seriously felt like we were being ignored. If you didn’t want to serve us, just say that. The only reason I ended up ordering was because I had already drank the water and felt awkward leaving. I ordered the gyoza and crab rangoon to go — and honestly, the food was actually good. But the overall experience? Easily some of the worst service I’ve ever had. Would I come back? Honestly, no. Even decent food can’t make up for...
Read moreThis Thursday me and my girlfriend came to try out the new hibachi place on Elmwood (yomokopvd). When we got there, the servers told us to sit anywhere. When we sat at our tables the server came up to us 10 minutes (red flag since she took so long to greet) keep in mind NO ONE WAS THERE. She had asked if we wanted any drinks and we had asked for lemons but she didn’t tell us that the restaurant didn’t have any until we had to go back up to her to ask again. We had ordered sushi and hibachi, we specifically asked the waiter if we can just get our sushi first as an appetizer and wait on the lunch. She gave it all at once, which could’ve just been a mistake so I didn’t say anything. Then the food was such small portions for the price of bigger portions I can get somewhere else like ichigo ichie or mt Fuji. Food was dry and not seasoned at all, but I can say the sushi was mediocre. Lastly when the bill came I was wondering how my bill came out to so much when it was just two people without any tip, and after looking over the bill I seen she GAVE ME GRATUITY OF 18%. Super disrepectful and illegal in Rhode Island, place has horrible service and chose to give me gratuity for what??? Little did she know I always tip 20%. Do not go there if you don’t like shitty servers and small...
Read moreWent there a couple days ago with the fam, wanted to check it out. First thing is the parking, we didn't know they had a lot on the side but it looked like it belong to the house right there so we drove back and forth looking for a spot. Second, the atmosphere is nice, the music wasn't too loud, we were able to hear ourself talk to one another. There was people smoking hookah but that didn't bother me so much, they were at a good distance from us. Our waitress came up, her english was decent, could understand her a bit, she did, however messed up our order lol The sushi was good, I would definitely go back for that. I had their hibachi, it was a 50/50 for me. The shrimp and chicken was good, the rice tasted "weird" it wasn't bad but it's wasn't the rice you usually eat at a Japanese restaurant. It wasn't for me. And the vegetables it came with was spoiled. You can definitely taste it and i love eating vegetables. So that's a no for me. won't be ordering that again, stock with the sushi The drinks were good, they didn't slack on a alcohol. But overall, it's a decent place for sushi and drinks. Would...
