First Chop Suey — Restaurant in Proviso Township

Do NOT eat from the First Chop Suey in Bellwood! Today, I discovered a very unusual wooden like texture in my shrimp fried rice. I pulled the 2 pieces out my mouth and wrapped it in a napkin. I went back to the restaurant and spoke with the manager. I showed him the pieces and described the texture (as he did not touch it) and he goes in a box and pulls out a dirty brush that's used to clean the grill and asks me "Does this look like what's in your rice?" I respond, that's exactly what's in the rice! A dirty brush with raggedy wooden bristles. He even explains that its used to clean the grill! I wanted to throw up in his face! How disgusting! The manager issued a refund on the rice but would not refund the chicken wings after I made it clear, the meal was completely ruined for me! In addition, I felt sick and lost my appetite! Who wouldn't? He pointed to a "no refund" sign even though he knows that the restuarant was at fault! In addition, I had to pull out shrimp peels from inside the rice! He did not apologize for the inconvenience and really tried to press the no refund policy! He was completely unapologetic and took the dirty brush and put it right back in the box which let's me know, he's going to continue using it! I would NEVER give this restaurant another dime! I grew up not far from this place, needless to say my family and I would order from here quite often. It's been a few years since I been here, unfortunately this will be my last visit. I ordered the general tso's lunch plate (which includes chicken fried rice and an eggroll) and a 6pc chicken wings. First, the wings are no longer whole wings. I paid $8 for 6 party wings, I mean I understand due to the pandemic and chicken shortage, but I would've appreciated the menu noting that change. I could've easily gone next door to get some wings, but other than that the wings were pretty good. The general tso's was not good at all, it tasted nothing like any general's chicken I've ever had. It had a strong artificial orange flavor, they dumped a ton of chili flakes on it, and it had a funky aftertaste. The rice lacked a ton of flavor and was dry, overall my meal was unpleasant which sucks because this was one of my favorite Chinese spots...

My husband made a mobile order for pick up And when I arrived to the restaurant, one of the registers told me to provide the card and my ID and on the website, it does not say that we have to provide those two items so I did not have those two items to show her. She was very rude and started yelling telling me that she needed these two items in order for me to receive my food just in case if it was fraud. Mind you the total was $24. And I show her The bank statement That they had already took out that amount out of my Husband bank account. And so I told her if I wasn’t gonna be able to receive my food to give me a refund and she told me that she didn’t wanna do me the refund that she was not in charge of it so when I had told you that I was gonna call the police that’s why she went ahead and proceeded to give me my refund.
