JJ Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Proviso Township

I love fish fry and especially when you're craving to find one for it. I happened to be in the Naperville area, and I remember that the nearest JJ Fish store to get one is here in Bolingbrook, IL. But I was frustrated because it turned out that this specific store location is now owned by Indian 🇮🇳 descent, and the workers inside to attend to your orders are the same as well.

I wonder if maybe the original owner ( a black businessman) has finally retired after so many years of keeping it original, gave up the apron, and decided to sell the ownership to an entrepreneur buyer.

The order takers are not bad, but the waiting time is very long for an individual customer to wait. I personally time it to 15 minutes, and when phone orders pick up, plus walk-in people come in, it starts to build a crowd and the waiting time adds more minutes inside a very small area. It is recommended for customers when, after ordering, you can stand by and sit back to your car.

The quality of food and its Southern style have been maintained. But' have lost a little bit of authenticity on the fish taste and presentation.

If I could give them zero stars, I would! I ordered 10 wings one evening last week. They were so fresh and delicious, I decided to order 20 wings the next day. I ordered ahead of time because I had to go to work and wanted to feed the kids before I leave. I come to pick up the food, and the cashier was outside taking care of a couch order outside. Yes, I said couch. I told him I was here to pick up my 20 wings and had to go to work and didn’t have a lot of time. He said one moment. I’m still standing there almost 20 minutes later. Now I don’t have time to eat. When I told him that I just want my food so I can go to work. He said: “If I can’t wait I can just go ahead and leave!” I left empty handed with no food for me and my kids. It’s such a shame because their food is good but their customer service is horrible! I will never go there again and tell everyone else not to go there either. They lost a lifetime...

Phone support.... Their clearly was a man who wasn't happy to take my call. I asked " is this the same owners as the owner on Mannheim in Melrose park? He said ,"first tell me what you want.. " I said I want to order,but only from that franchise owner. Is this the same own......(interrupted) mam , again. Just tell me what you want and than we go from there. " That's ok I'm not ordering because you aren't kind Sir. ( I am sorry 😐 I found a menu later and learned that it is the same owner. I was in shock!!!!! ) So I leave you with this .. the food is amazing. The customer to staff relationship needs a lil work ,but I'm also thinking maybe my timing just wasn't good. Maybe he had just had a larger order and...
