As a loyal customer of J&J Fish, I am writing this review to express my disappointment with my recent experience at the restaurant. Located at 319 S. Harlem Forest Park Il, the coleslaw served to me was sour and the chicken and fish were fried in unclean oil. As a concerned customer, I personally called the manager/owner to inform them about the issue with the coleslaw. Despite being respectful, I was met with rudeness and multiple hang-ups, which was disheartening. Quality food and good customer service are crucial when dining out, and it is essential for the restaurant to ensure both for their customers' satisfaction and health. I kindly request that the manager/owner address the issue with the sour coleslaw and improve their customer service practices. As a concerned patron, I hope that everyone cooking at the restaurant has their food and sanitation license to avoid any potential health risks for customers. It is my sincere hope that these concerns are taken seriously and necessary steps are taken due to the rude customer service. I'm honored to share some knowledge just in case you don't know. Spoiled coleslaw from a restaurant can cause various foodborne illnesses, primarily due to bacterial contamination and improper temperature control. These can include listerios. Listeria is a foodborne illness caused by bacteria that is able to grow at refrigeration temperatures. Outbreaks in recent years have been linked to contaminated coleslaw,...
Read moreAfter returning 6 months after my original review, NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Ordered grilled catfish and grilled shrimp with lemon pepper; COLD, BLAND and BURNED at the same time, which is a huge accomplishment in poor food and poor service.
(Original review) After getting my food (small perch+fries) home and noticing that it had absolutely no seasoning (not even the lemon pepper that I requested), I called back to tell them about my dissatisfaction; the man completely disregarded my complaint and justified it by saying that they don’t add seasoning (no kidding). The perch was like eating fried air with hot sauce (the one hot sauce they gave saved the day). The fries were saturated in oil with no salt). I know JJs isn’t a Michelin star place, but their standards of food and service are low. If your standard is low, this...
Read moreI’m might be late to the party on this but clearly this is not the old school J&J I grew up with. I believe it’s changed since Covid. The last time I got it was in 2019.. and it was on point especially this location. Immediately when I walked in I realized it’s not the same. When I looked at the cooked food it visually is not the same, taste wise it’s not bad but it’s not the same(diff batter/coating on fish). Portions were all off flavors of other things besides fish were non existent: I got 12 fries, and Cajun rice that had no flavor it was just yellow. If there was an option to just have the fish I might have been more satisfied. Just disappointing and I will not be back. Down below it asks me what dishes do I recommend and it has the nerve to list Cajun Rice if anything that’s the one thing I DO...
