I feel confident I will misspell Aldi employee Miss Keyanna's/Keiona's name. I don't mean to. She is just amazing. I first met Miss "K" when she worked at the Broadview store and my daughter was around 4YO (I promise my daughter's age matters a little). We were weekly shoppers, and my daughter would make eyes at Ms. K. Not surprising at all is that Ms. K was so customer service-oriented staffing the cash register, assisting wandering customers like me, stocking shelves, etc. She was like the Broadview Aldi General. She always "had time" though. COVID hit, and I utilized the curbside option and never looked back. To that end, I never saw Ms. K.
Fast forward to today. I still do curbside pickup as I like the time it saves while giving up personal choice for some products. I drove up to get my groceries, and a verrrrrry familiar face was walking toward me. It was Miss K. She cocked her head a little, smiled, and said "Where do I know you from?" As I was about to answer, she said "Broadview store, right?" I confirmed that, and voiced some (hopefully) encouraging memories to her while saying her name which I remembered. Miss K is STILL the Aldi General, but just at a different location.
While we were loading the groceries into my vehicle, and there was some small talk, and she goes, "You're daughter has to be around ... what ... 8 or 9 years old?" Again. Nailed it. Always making time. Remembering a customer from literally years ago, and her customer's children. Efficient. Kind. Warm.
Groceries are what they are and like everyone, I'd like to pay less and get more. It's the people, though, that make such a wonderful experience. Thank...
Read moreI am a wheelchair user and come here on my own sometimes. No one has ever been rude to me. This store isn’t huge but they have a decent amount of things. There’s some organic produce but not as much as Whole Foods but it is way less expensive. They have excellent berries there and it’s organic so I always buy them. They also have pasture raised eggs for $6.50. Which I also buy. They have some organic and grass-fed meat. They also have a pretty big cheese selection which is nice. And I love the goat cheese prices! They have good sourdough and other items from other countries like France or Germany or Italy. We save so much money coming here and the produce we have gotten is always better than Whole Foods. I wish they had small baskets for people who don’t want to buy a whole cart of items. So they need baskets. You do need a quarter to use the carts. They also need a bike rack. But I’m a wheelchair user and don’t use these things. It’s very accessible for me(but I can also stand). As the aisles are wide enough which is also a plus because Whole Foods and sugar beet have narrow aisles. So...
Read moreI was thrilled a new location was coming this way. Huge fan of affordable groceries!
I decided on 3 stars instead of 5 due to the meat section usually being quite bare.
I also feel for the seemingly 1 employee that has to do checkouts while simultaneously managing the self checkout section. There's no way anyone is paid enough to be that stressed on a regular occasion. Feels immoral. I'm sure the company like many others is claiming "record profits" while expecting more labor for less money and it just doesn't sit right, have more people up there to share the work load!
Update: I have witnessed the cashiers come and go, shifting from optimistic to burn out and quitting. Comparatively many groceries are overpriced here so be mindful of what you're buying if your...
