This saga took place a few years ago, but time has not moderated my feelings toward this place.
I took my wedding ring there to get resized; it was 1/2 size too large. My ring is (ehm... was) engraved with my wife's name and our wedding date. There was a blank space where they could cut the ring (I known this because the blank space can still be seen, even today! [Spoiler Alert: yes, this story will not end well...]). However, I- perhaps (hopefully?) (probably?) needlessly- reminded them NOT to cut the engraving (the ring is myyyy preecccciiouussss, after all). Returned a couple of days later. The ring was properly sized, the engraving was... oh sweet mother of God you've got to be kidding me... cut. Not only did I take it to a Jeweler (I presume resizing rings is like Jewelery Store Operations 101- this does not advertise itself as a butcher shop after all), not ONLY did I remind them NOT to mess up the engraving (did I really have to? But I'm particular that way), but they proceeded to do the LAST thing I would expect any decent engraver to do! ...And on my wedding ring! To add insult to injury, while I proceeded to express my dissatisfaction, surprise, and distress (somehow avoiding using any cuss words, I hasten to point out), the silence from the store personnel was deafening. For crying out loud, if someone bumps into me at the grocery store they say, "I'm sorry". But the concept of admitting your mistake and expressing regret was also lost on these guys.
In fairness, they were willing to replace the 'a' that was removed, however they quite honestly said that it would not match the other letters. No thank you, I'd rather have it attended to by a professional.
Finally, the last thing they said to me was, "So you're not going to pay for it?" Pffft. What do you think, Einstein? Ponder it for a while, and get back to me (...so I thought, but I actually responded, "No")
I see that these guys get a lot of happy happy reviews. It's easy to do well when things are... easy. The true mettle of a person or a service provider is tested in unfortunate circumstances, and this store was an utter failure in my book.
I live in Oak Park, and I can't even look at the place. For god's sake, they're a jewelry store, and this is my wedding ring. You only get one, dammit, and they messed it up. Rating:...
Read moreIf you are reading this review you are probably in a similar spot as I was. Searching around trying to find the best, most trustworthy jeweler - before making a large investment in an engagement ring and wedding bands. Look no further than Oak Park Jewelers. They are the jeweler you want to use without a doubt. Oak park jewelry, and specifically the owner, Sam, are some of the most authentic people you’ll meet. It’s easy to feel you might be getting ripped off, or not as quality of a product at some chain jewelry stores. Oak Park Jewelers is a family owned business who have always been a part of the Oak Park community—they are in a league of their own.
My wife and I looked around at many of your name brand jewelry shops and we were not very satisfied with the variety, price or customer service. We stop by Oak Park jewelers on a random Saturday and instantly knew this is where we wanted to buy our rings. Sam is one of the most friendly, down to earth, and transparent people you will meet. My wife was looking for a unique ring and he completely blew us out of the water with our custom designed ring that had a price we saw for some generic rings in many of the other name brand stores. When it came time to get our wedding bands it was not even a question where we would go. Sam helped us pick out my ring and a wedding band for my wife that complemented her gorgeous engagement ring. I thought I was done there, but a week before the wedding, I decided to make a necklace from the diamond of my wife’s late mother’s wedding ring. I was not certain it would be done in time, but I knew if anyone could do it, it would be Sam. Sam assured me that there would be no issue and that he could create a beautiful, simple setting from her mother’s ring. This seriously was one of the most precious moments of our whole wedding day when I gave my wife her mom‘s diamond to wear around her neck.
Sam is the real deal and I would 10 out of 10 recommend him to anyone who is looking for a top-notch jeweler. Buying an engagement or wedding rings shouldn’t feel scary or like you’re working with a used car salesman. Sam made the experience fun, joyful, and made us feel excited and celebrated as we moved into this next chapter. We absolutely guarantee your experience will be great at Oak Park Jewelers!...
Read moreWell I have to say I am very happy and surprised on the customer service now for Oak Park Jewelers. I have had several times serviced my luxury Watches with them and this particular time they went Above and Beyond expectations next to offering which I never experience Wine in a Jewelry store? Wow that was a 1st. Anyways this is the story of last year when I had my Movado Bold watch serviced because I noticed inside the case there was moisture going in. I was hesitant 1st to have them service it because they stop selling Movado watches and before 2018 they said they were the official retailer selling Movado timepieces. I was wrong they still would service Movado watches in which I called and inquired about despite they discontinued selling Movado. Anyways they were fair to service it for almost $50 dollars and my sister ask and gave me that watch as a Xmas gift which I loved and appreciated. What it was that this year I noticed I had the same problem with Moisture going inside the case of the watch. I took it back and they still honored there repair at no extra charge. They even made it so convenient to mail it to my residential address since they are limited in being open in the weeknights since I am now working 8 am to 5 pm far away and Naperville and that is the time they close on weekdays around 5pm. I was going to go Saturday before 3 pm despite my own agendas I had to take care of but they went the extra mile to send it again via mailing to my residential home and received my watch. Anyways I give this Jewelry a 5 stars compared to the big chain jewelry stores in the shopping malls like Rogers and Hollands, Kay Jewelers or even Jared LOL. I wish I had pictures to show but I had to give the excellent word. I will be coming back in the future for my other luxury watches if they need service including my prized Omega Constellation which was service for battery replacement 3 years ago and even Swatch watches for batteries since the Swatch store at Woodfield Mall went out of business and I got no simple support from Swatch which is my least expensive Swiss Timepieces. A special thanks to Patty and the rest of the great staff I have spoken too. Note have not used Google to make reviews since pandemic since I use Yelp more but is same...
