Review for FatDuck Tavern & Grill:
I recently revisited FatDuck Tavern & Grill and I'm sad to say that my experience was not as satisfying as it used to be in the past. Over the years, there have been noticeable declines in different aspects of the restaurant.
The food, which used to be a highlight, has suffered from a decline in quality. While the wings and burgers still manage to stand out as decent options, they no longer carry the same appeal that they once did. This drop in overall food quality has left me somewhat disappointed, leading me to rate it a 3 out of 5.
Similarly, the atmosphere of the restaurant has seen better days. It's evident that there has been a decrease in the energy and excitement that used to fill the place. What was once a bustling and lively environment now appears a bit lackluster and sad. This noticeable decline in atmosphere leads me to rate it another 3 out of 5.
In terms of service, there's a similar pattern. The service, which used to be great and attentive, has now become just okay. While I'm not encountering any significant issues, it's clear that the level of dedication and care from the staff has diminished. This change in service quality merits a 3 out of 5 as well.
Overall, my recent experience at FatDuck Tavern & Grill has been marked by a series of declines. The food, atmosphere, and service have all suffered in comparison to the restaurant's past standards. While the wings and burgers are still notable, they are not enough to salvage the overall experience. It's my hope that the restaurant can address these issues and regain the quality that it once had. For now, I would rate the establishment...
Read more1 of our favorite local places to eat. The food never disappoints, even during the pandemic which we ordered from often to help keep them afloat. The burgers are always great. The pork nachos are a good appetizer. The fries are great, with 3 different dipping sauces. The Sriracha mayo is my fave. My wife's is the garlic aioli. My personal favorite dish there is the rueben. Update.... 12/4/20.... This has always been 1 of my family's favorite local places to eat, as you see from the above review. The last 2 times getting food from here, it has been absolutely disappointing. Last time the fries were absolutely burnt, and very skimpy. Not a big deal, as this was the only time I've been disappointed. Tonight we ordered and I picked up. There were no sauces with my rueben and my wife's duck far burger. Also, the blt salad looked like it was just thrown in a container. I called and spoke with Mike the manager, who said I could come back. Anyone from the area knows a trip from North Oak Park(Harlem and North), to fat duck in rush hour isn't a quick drive. I told him I was extremely disappointed and he said he'll make note of it. I can't believe I'm saying this but after all these years of getting food here, we...
Read moreTook our kidlet to the zoo and wanted to find a good spot to try for lunch after. Fatduck has been on my wife's radar for awhile now do we decided to take the plunge and give it a shot. Having been outside all day we opted to continue the trend and sit in their patio section.
After a brief stint of the waitress trying to seat 5 of us and a baby at a table for 4 we got settled in and ordered. Drinks were delivered quickly and the refills kept on coming (which is what keeps me happy at a restaurant.)
We tried out the duck confit quesadillas for an appetizer that everyone loved. Followed that up with a burger that would have been perfect if the pretzel bun had been heated up (why serve such a great bun cold??) with a side of the Duckfat fries. The burger was seasoned perfectly and the cheese and onions on it were perfect. There's a reason people rave about the duckfat fries here. They really are amazing and the sauces are the perfect compliment for them.
Aside from the near seating snafu and the pretzel bun there were no complaints. The food was awesome, the service was great, and the staff was friendly. If Fatduck was closer it'd be an easy go to spot for food, drinks, and hanging out...
