If I could give it a ZERO I definitely would!!! I had a horrible first time experience. I decided to take my daughter for lunch here on her 3rd birthday, and too see what all the hype and "good reviews" were all about. Mind you I got there at 1130, half hour after opening. Only another mom besides me there. Since no one was there we were seated quickly but was not given enough time to look at the menu. I felt very pressured by the server and ordered the first thing i saw on the menu. Seems like they are used to their usuals that already know what to order. By the way was never followed up to see if everything was okay, or if I needed anything else, while the other mom was being asked every two minutes, mind you there was only one other mom and her two kids. I read some reviews about discrimination, and I thought to myself, "No way", but was very obvious and clear. Food is not that great. Honestly think my daughter would have had more fun at a Mc Donalds playplace, after this bad experience. I honestly thought we would have great experience and celebrate my daughters birthday, she even wore her bday shirt and the server didn't even seem to care or ask if it was her birthday. Might I add they have a bogus balloon guy who ONLY knows how to make two things, a worm and a sword. I had no idea nor did I read anyone mention the wacky balloon dude, but anyways he started making balloons to some children and my daughter seen and of course went up to him and started asking for a butterfly, in which by the way he could not make besides those two things. She was so excited and then he comes up to me and says he works off of tips, at which point i had already used all my cash and loose change at the play area. (make sure you bring cash and or change, they don't have an atm but expect you to tip the random wacky balloon guy) so at this point I did not want to ruin my daughters day and we walked over across the street to take out more cash to tip the wacky balloon guy. It was embarrassing and I honestly did not see any other parents at this point tip him. Ultimately POOR SERVICE and the wacky balloon guy needs to go! Too much went wrong for me on my first trip. I hope the owner reads my review. Not a...
Read moreWe’ve been to an amazing train restaurant in Kansas City years ago and had super high hopes. We came in on a Tuesday night. No one else was there. My family of four sat down at the counter. The music was some trap rap whatever and it was LOUD. The staff weren’t mean or anything but they didn’t care to be there and certainly didn’t care about us. Which is fine; I don’t expect a song and dance but I think this talks more about owners/management. The first thing the website wants to do is franchise because even though there are trains and arcade games, the best part, there is nothing in the atmosphere here that is warm or welcoming or enduring. I was ready for the food to be subpar, the service was so bad and so was the music we decided to stick with our drinks that cost over 20 dollars for three foutajn drinks and a cheer wine because if front of house hates it there think of how the back of house must feel. So yeah, we fed their arcade machines, tipped 20% and left never to return again. Probably an off night but a super bummer and not worth the drive from the north side. If you’re ever in Kansas City the place these guys want to be is there and it’s awesome and the owners seem to actually give a cluck. Parking is...
Read moreEasily the best restaurant I've been to within driving distance and the second-best overall. I visited just to play some pinball with my father, and the employees didn't mind at all that we didn't eat food at first. The two machines they had (Rocky and Bullwinkle and Bobby Orr) were in good condition, especially Bobby Orr since the restaurant owns the machine entirely while R&B is partly owned by an operator. Do be warned however that the Game Room in the back (which houses the pinball machines along with a handful of other games) doesn't have any reception. Thankfully, everywhere in the restaurant but that small room does have reception. Before we left, we tried a basket of fries just to see if the food way any good, and they were definitely the best fries I've ever tried. Great value for only $5 too! The atmosphere is remarkable since the restaurant used to be a bank, which you can tell by the entrance and just the old-timely look of the building inside, which adds to the charm in my opinion. Last but not least, the train, which was just the cherry on top of the whole experience. I totally recommend it to everyone. If you're not into the train, there's plenty of other things to keep...
