I got the urge for a late night snack and Google led me here. I wasn't the only one looking for a late night snack because there were lots of people on the inside/outside eating ice cream. When I walked in I instantly noticed the decor. It gave old ice cream parlor vibes! Fast forward-They didn't have apple pies/cinnamon for one of the their premier items which was a bummer! We had the layered turtle ice cream and a root beer float. The layered turtle ice cream was delicious even though it wasn't layered. It was more like toppings of fudge, carmel and pecans on vanilla ice cream. The root beer float was just ok because it was warm. I don't think the root beer is refrigerated. As we sat there and looked around at all the decor, pictures & wall trimmings it started to feel as if we were in a ice cream parlor that would have been off limits to people of color back in the day. Don't get me wrong, the ice cream beats oberweis hands down, but the theme of parlor lacked diversity for the multicultural demographic they serve. I can't lie and say I'll never go back because I definitely will! Their ice cream is amazing! I'll just get my ice...
Read moreThis has gotten out of hand. Brown cow is good, don't get me wrong. But I just bought a 13 dollar pint of key lime that wasn't filled to the top and had 0 Graham crackers or anything. I have no problem paying for QUALITY. But the prices go up and the quality keeps dropping.
I like supporting local businesses and so after my wedding rehersal dinner I sent everyone from out of town this way, whenever I have visitors this is where I bring them if we want ice cream, but I can't anymore.
People really like this place, so I'm sure the loss of my business won't be the straw that breaks the camels back. But , I just walked in on a hot summer evening, walked past 3 employees and placed my order at the register with no waiting, which would've been unheard of just a few years ago.
Edit: In the spirit of fairness, the employees there are wonderful youngsters, very polite, very nice and very knowledgeable. Also, my little one has an allergy and they always accommodate by using an allergy scoop and practicing safe food standards. I'm amending my one star to a 2 for now, because that is...
Read moreAh! This place was amazing. The ice cream, the quality. I’m referring to their vegan selections which was only two (vanilla and chocolate) but you can get creative. The creaminess! Honestly, this is probably the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had. I’ve tried quite a few. When I first saw it, I thought it wouldn’t be good. It looked as if the texture was off. As if it would have an “icy” texture but boy were looks deceiving! I tried it and was quite pleasantly surprised. Is the vegan also made in house? There must be an oat milk/cashew milk base. I mean very well done! Vaca is a close second. Anyway, I added peanut butter sauce and hot fudge and waffle pieces. Oh la la! I had so much fun eating this…my daughter got the vanilla with sprinkles and chocolate chips. She has never liked any vegan chocolate ice cream but I got her to try mine and she finished it! Anyway, this place is great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Came here after a day in the ‘burbs. What a way to...
