A Fuego Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Puerto Rico

My visit to A Fuego Bar & Restaurant was quite disappointing. It seemed that our server didn't want to serve us, making the experience feel unwelcoming from the start. Despite there being only three or four other tables occupied and three servers on shift, we waited a frustrating 45 minutes for just three small dishes. Throughout this time, from receiving our drinks to the arrival of our food, we were not checked up on once.

To get an update on our food, I had to flag down the server, which meant going downstairs to find him as we were seated upstairs. This level of service was simply unacceptable.

When our food finally arrived, I found two pieces of hair in my Shrimp Mofongo. For those unaware, the Shrimp Mofongo is topped with shrimp. We physically pulled the hair out of the untouched portion of the Mofongo in front of the server, and it was obviously cooked in there. When the manager came over, she questioned why I ate all the shrimp. As stated, the shrimp were on top, so naturally, they were the first thing I ate.

Additionally, we had to flag down a separate server to locate our server and get our bill, and then another server to actually run our bill. This repeated need to flag down staff was incredibly frustrating.

Our host recommended this restaurant, so we decided to try it out for a late lunch. I tried to order a vodka with club soda, but as no one but a child there had any English, I received a Perrier (no vodka) instead.

Tried to use google translate, but just wound up with several drinks and meals that we didn't really want, as the waitress didn't seem to have the patience for us to figure it out.

It was a frustrating and expensive visit, as we didn't speak Spanish, and no one there spoke English.

I would definitely recommend that you only visit if you have at least a moderate amount of Spanish. It was a pretty spot with beautiful views of the ocean. We love 💕 the staff. All of the waitresses were extremely friendly. Our waitress was the most attentive that we’ve had in two weeks. We’ve only had two waitresses that provided excellent services. Allie, was the best waitress we’ve had in Puerto Rico. The manager was very nice and asked if we were ok or needed anything. Thank you for the exceptional service. As a 21 year Army Retired Veteran and a manager of over 600 employees, I’m not pleased with the owner degrading the manager. It appears that the owner reprimanded her in front of her staff.
