Edelweiss Bar & Grill: A Caribbean Gem Where Fresh Seafood Reigns Supreme
My recent visit to Edelweiss Bar & Grill was a true delight for the senses. The vibrant atmosphere, friendly service, and, most importantly, the incredible food, left me feeling happy and thoroughly satisfied.
I opted for the red snapper with stuffed seafood, and let me tell you, it was a showstopper. The perfectly cooked snapper, flaky and glistening with a hint of lemon, was generously stuffed with a medley of fresh seafood that burst with flavor in every bite. The combination of shrimp, lobster, and other treasures of the sea was simply divine.
But the culinary journey didn't end there. The accompanying mofongo rice and beans were the perfect complements to the star of the show. The mofongo, a Puerto Rican staple made with mashed plantains, was light and fluffy, soaking up the delicious juices from the snapper and seafood stuffing. The rice and beans, cooked to perfection with a touch of sofrito, added a layer of savory comfort that rounded out the dish beautifully.
Beyond the Plate: A Feast for the Senses
Edelweiss Bar & Grill isn't just about the food, though that's certainly the main attraction. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, with a touch of island flair. The friendly staff adds to the charm, making you feel welcome and pampered from the moment you step in. And let's not forget the view! Situated right by the beach, the restaurant offers stunning vistas of the turquoise waters and swaying palm trees, making every meal a feast for the eyes as well.
A Must-Try for Seafood Lovers and Beyond
Whether you're a seafood lover or simply looking for a delicious and authentic Caribbean dining experience, Edelweiss Bar & Grill is a must-try. The fresh ingredients, expertly prepared dishes, and warm atmosphere make it a gem worth discovering. I highly recommend the red snapper with stuffed seafood – it's a dish I'll be dreaming about long after my last bite.

Read moreI strongly recommend the chicken mofungo in garlic sauce, but make sure you ask for the yuca mofungo (the mofungo made from yuca). It is much better than their mofungo made from plaintain. I rate that dish a 5 star dish. My only complaint is that they are very stingy with the salads. When a dinner comes with salad, they give you a small amount: I mean it's probably about 1/4 or 1/5th of the size that you'd get in the U.S. I finished it in five bites.
Also, if you order a separate salad from the menu, it's also absurdly small. The caesar salad is $10 and they give you about a third of the amount of lettuce etc. that you'd get for the same thing in most US restaurants. If you want a salad, drive a mile down the road in either direction and get a salad at the Wendy's or McDonalds or Subway in Luquillo (all 3 just off the exit), or a salad at Burger King in Rio Grande going the other way.
All four of those places will give you a salad that is about 50% bigger than Edelweiss for half the price, and they're just as good, if not better. And they'll have it ready within a minute. At Edelweiss, you're paying about quadruple the price for what you get. It would be acceptable to pay double the price because it's more of a restaurant (though still - it's just a kiosk, so there's not much ambiance etc.), but to reach that point, Edelweiss needs to double the amount of lettuce they put in...
Read moreWe did not have this dive sort of bar/restaurant making it in our top 3 places we would visit during our trip to Puerto Rico, it did and...this was a definite WOW!! Took a rain forest hiking tour in Luquillo and this was a food stop on our way back down the mountain. One of the things I was looking forward to trying in Puerto Rico was Stuffed Avocado. Our driver mentioned this place as one of his favorites and they did have various stuffed Avocado options. Ohh my was he on point with this recommendation. I had the Shrimp and Garlic sauce stuffed Avocado, this is PR and the Avocado is huge, not like the Avocado I get from my backyard tree. Also, the Shrimp were XL if not Jumbo, the flavor was absolutely one of the best things we had in 10 days in Puerto Rico. Lest not forget the top notch Rice n Beans were also great, but the Shrimp, my, my, my!!! Wife had the Grouper bites with the Rice and Beans which were good but instantly regretted once tasting the Shrimp n Garlic Sauce I was delighted to have. They also make very good drinks, my wife ordered 2, yes 2 Long Island Iced Teas, I had a Jack n Coke, both very very good drinks. This is a MUST VISIT in my books when we return to...
