Rellena’o #40 — Restaurant in Puerto Rico

My wife and I were right next to this place getting fantastic Mojitos at the Mojito Lab and it looked interesting. We were not very hungry but asked the Mojito master how the food was next door and were told that it was very, very good. LIE!!---it was indescribable. We had a Mofongo with carne frita, creamy garlic aioli and cilantro pineapple chimichurri. We also got a side of hot sauce. The pork chunks were juicy and delicious with no tendons or fat--crispy and tender at the same time.. The hot sauce you could drink like a shot--a little spicy but very tasty, not bottled. The yuca mofongo was crispy with the creamy garlic sauce mixed in. Goodness, gracious, it was one of those meals that you just continue to revel in even hours later. We had our best meal in Puerto Rico right here, at Rellena’o, kiosk #40 at the Luquillo Beach. We ordered three variations of the rice and chicken bowls, with garlic aïoli, chimichurri, and creole sauces. Each of them were very special, fresh, bursting with flavors, very satisfying. Their style that is similar to a fast casual restaurant, like chipotle, is executed extremely well, including fresh flavors of salsa, as well as textures from mouthwatering toppings like plantain and bacon, and a fast turn. This place has the best monfongo I have ever tasted in my life. My parents are full-blooded puerto ricans and after tasting this food, I am convinced that that we do not have the right recipe for Monfongo! I had the Monfongo with chicharron and camarones and I was absolutely blown away by the flavors, freshness and the moistness. Adrian was extremely helpful and patient with us, as we asked many questions about the food items and menu. The staff were friendly and extremely welcoming. We will definitely visit again.
