I’ve given this place multiple tries and it’s just not good. I’ve tried the pasta, pizza, sandwiches, wraps, and more and just never have anything positive to say about the food. At best, I have neutral thoughts about whatever was ordered.
Ambiance: The restaurant has a fabulous feeling to it. It’s hard to describe the feeling, but it just feels like you been in there before. The atmosphere and ambiance get a star for this place.
Service: The service is fairly good here. The woman taking care of our table made sure that we got whatever we ordered or needed. Service also gets a star added to the rating.
Food: Now we get to the part that you’d hope would be the best but unfortunately was not. The food here is not memorable at all. It was just very ‘meh’ this time and every time before no matter what was ordered. On this trip I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap and I didn’t taste any Buffalo sauce. It just lacked character or flavor of any kind. The fries were also just very basic and unseasoned. We also had a pizza at the table that night. But the toppings tasted very cheap and took away from the experience of eating pizza. The ham on the pizza looked and tasted just like thinly sliced deli ham from a plastic container at the grocery store. The pasta we had was also underwhelming.
I really wish that I could say that this place has improved with the amount of times I’ve visited but it hasn’t. The food is very forgettable and uninspired. I like the ambiance and the service. The people who run the place are very nice. I just think the food continues to need...
Read moreI’m so disappointed with my recent visit. This used to be my favorite restaurant, one I’ve been going to for years, but after moving away, I returned the other day for the first time in about a year, and things have definitely changed. I called ahead to place an order, and my fiancé went in to pick it up. After he paid, the woman realized she had mistakenly charged him for a salad that was supposed to be included with the pasta. Instead of fixing it on the receipt, she just handed him cash for the overcharge.
As he walked back to the car, he noticed we’d also been overcharged for the pasta. We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo listed for $13 on the menu, but they added an extra $2 charge for the Alfredo sauce. I went inside, and after a discussion (and showing them the price listed on their website), they gave me cash again. Back in the car, I then noticed we’d also been overcharged for the kid’s meal. Instead of just charging us for Alfredo, they rang it up as buttered noodles with a $2.50 charge for Alfredo sauce. Overall, we were overcharged by $10 across the receipt, not including the added sales taxes.
The Alfredo sauce itself was disappointing too—it had a great texture but lacked flavor. I’m not sure what happened to this place, but I won’t be coming back. If you’re eating here, carryout especially, check your receipt carefully to make sure you’re being...
Read moreNot bad by any means but under delivered on our expectations. Pizza was just ok. One of the beauties of a true brick oven pizza place is that you can get that nice leoparding on the cheese and toppings just due to the nature of the brick oven method. It enables you to simultaneously get a little color on the bottom of the crust as well as the dark spots on the topside. Unfortunately they don't cook the pizzas that long here. Really a missed opportunity. The pizza crust had very no color on the bottom (i.e. dark spots) and the top had very little leoparding. For a good example of what a good brick oven pizza looks like, check out a New Haven style pizza shop like Frank Pepe's Apizza. That's how you do brick oven pizza! I personally wouldn't send anyone out to Purcellville specifically for this pizza. I would give the place another chance, though, but not for their pizza. I'd go back and try their subs...
