Tried it a few times now, and the first 2 times were fine. Order had everything it was supposed to and no issues with anything. The third time though, Jan 2024, they were out of roast chicken, tenders were small (anywhere from 1/2 to 1/5 of a normal tender size from there), items were left out of order, and the family size poppers contained 5 poppers. On top of all that, they over charged by not removing the part of the order they couldn't fill when they were out of roasted chicken. It gets some stars for the first times that were good, but quite a bit off for the bad experience. Sad because I wanted it to be a reliably good place to go. -Edit Tried again as suggested. Ordered the legs and thighs for 13.99 and was charged 22.99. Added a family size jalapeno poppers and it had 5 in it. Added 4 rolls, and unlike my very first visit (which was actually really good experience), the rolls were small and cold. Order that should have been around $24 was $33 total. Reduced another star. I almost reduced to 1 star, but it's not there yet. If it's still in business after a year or so maybe I'll try again, assuming prices...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreManager needs some education in how to address customers. Menu was unclear on "side items" as it had a 2nd row of items with a higher cost for items, to the left of the row & below the price to left on the 1st row of 2.99. So I was unsure if those items on the 2nd row could be chosen as a side item in a combo order.. Combos said "1 side item". When I asked the manager if the "green salad" on the 2nd row could be ordered as the side item listed in the combos, his reply was, "It's your money, you can spend as much as you want on whatever you want." With that rude remark, I ordered only the salad not knowing if I was paying 2.99 or 5.99 for it. It was the size of a coffee mug with cost of 2.99. I was not impressed. My husband ordered the chicken Tenders & shrimp...he was not impressed. He said the batter on the chicken was not good. My opinion, next time I will go somewhere else, probably the Mexican Restaurant on the hill in the strip mall behind the doctor's clinic on Hwy 11.. Much better meal for about the same cost as the Golden chick's combo...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe fried okra was good; Iād avoid everything else.
Sides were OK; well-priced and good portions. The fried chicken Iād give a 2/5. It had very little seasoning; maybe a little salt but otherwise incredibly bland. The skin had the pale color and texture of microwaved chicken tenders. The roast chicken was inedible: 1/5. It was greasy (literally dripping oil) on the outside with a slimy texture on the inside and way over-seasoned. I mean you could scrape tablespoons of rub off the bottom of the thigh. Laughably bad and went right in the trash, so we got an 8-piece family meal with four edible pieces of chicken. The rolls were tough, tasted like cheap artificial butter, and were all smashed up like someone had sat on them.
The sides were so cheap and heavy-handed I get the impression they know the chicken is bad. The whole thing felt like the sort of āauthentic southern comfort foodā you might find at a Canadian truck...
