While we were seated immediately, the girl who came to take our drink order seemed rude. Maybe she was hot and tired, but no excuse. She just blurted out "what do you want to drink?" No hellos, no introduction no greeting at all. When the drinks were delivered, they were slammed down then slid to my husband and I. It was a Sunday and busy I thought as to why the fast and curt manner. But then she was the same to another couple, just blurting out "what are you drinking?" Without even looking them in the eyes bc she's picking up the next table over's finished plate. The food did not make up for the rude behavior. Both the fried chicken and fries fish were dry and over cooked. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and almost dry. A woman pulled a piece of dark colored meat from a section on the buffet to ask the employee tending the food what it was. She thought it was pork chop in juices. Nope. It was supposed to be baked chicken. Never in my life have I seen baked chicken the color of hamburger steaks and soaked in a tub full of broth. My next plate had coleslaw. Everyone makes theirs different I understand, but this was so heavily doused in pepper it was unbearable. The dessert area looked like a mess. There was what looked like home made sheet cake, which was fine, but it was sitting out on a table in the back drying out as it was already cut and served on styrofoam plates. The "ice cream bar" was just a deep freeze with single serving size ice cream cups. They were just thrown in there scattered everywhere. Something was spilled in there along the sides and an empty box. The only thing I enjoyed about this place was the story telling of the family gathering at the next table over and the two cobblers- peach and pineapple. There was a male employee who checked on us and made us feel welcome. We won't be back. We come to this town to tend and visit a loved one at the cemetery. Not many places to eat. This made our list shorter. We were excited for southern...
Read moreI was famished coming off I-59 a few months back, and just wanted some place to eat...I didn't care what it was. I just followed the blue signs on the highway towards food.
I will cut to the quick and say: do not show up at the Stonehouse Restaurant 20-25 minutes before the sign says they are closing. The wait staff was clearing off cluttered tables and made it known they were getting ready to shut down the buffet; they wouldn't be adding anything else, and there wasn't much left.
This is a pet peeve of mine: if your hours say you are open until 2:00, that means you are open to execute your business model until...
Read moreTheir grits, ranch, and Mac and cheese are out of this world! The food quality is great and everyone is always pleasant, from the waitress to the cashier to the owner. The only negative thing is you have to get there early to get a dessert. They don't restock the cake and such for the people who are there past 12. Price is awesome. I have never had an issue and we love their fish on Sundays! Make sure you're hungry...
