Burgers we're terrible. First thing is buns came out burnt. They replaced them. Next burgers we're way over cooked so much that when you bit into them they were crunchy! Completely not edible. So was offered a different item. My husband couldn't get his burgers replaced they said because he used a coupon! So he ate the one that was less burnt and charred never eating the other. The fries were just barely done. The onion rings were still oozing batter out although the outside appeared done. The fries and rings were not greasy but tasted of old oil. So, I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich to replace my burger and they used the prime rib sandwich meat in it. Yuck! Also, it was literally swimming in grease. When I picked up the bread everything fell out of it and the bread discentigrated. So I ordered another toasted bread and a piece of cheese to fix it myself. Our waitress went to put on the toasted bread and slathered it with butter to put it on the griddle. I stopped her and said that's one reason why it falls to pieces! Just barely butter it or better yet stick it in the toaster with no butter. By the time I got my toasted bread and reconstructed my sandwich, it was still too greasy to eat. I tried to pick out the pieces of meat, but they tasted awful. I sat and just picked over a few of the done fries and drank my tea. My husband was talking to a friend and I looked over and noticed the boy and girl sitting across from us had burgers as well and they were the same as ours. I asked if they were really gonna finish those and told them what happened and they agreed theirs was really not edible but was hungry and in a hurry so didn't have time to wait an anything else. However they didn't finish them and she only ate her fries and so did he with only a couple bites out if her burger and just about half of his eaten. Another group of folks got burnt bacon and sausage and nearly burnt toast. The cook was taking entirely too long to cook which caused everything to be over done. I got up at the end not feeling well and went to the restroom with explosive diarrhea and vomiting! As we left we noticed the friend and his wife on the other end was not pleased with their food either, but because they were regulars didn't say much, just sent it back and paid their bill. We're not regulars, but go in there 1+3 times a month and never had that bad of food. It's usually good. Oh, and as we paid our bill, we got no discount, they didn't comp our meal or anything. We paid full price except for the coupon on my husband's burgers and fries. I didn't have my phone on me or I would've taken pictures of everything. It was disgusting. It was Halloween night so I guess that explains the terror we had...
Read moreWell, today I finally talked my wife into eating at the Huddle House in Rainbow City, AL for the first time. A young, dark haired girl was our waitress. My wife ordered a patty melt with mayonnaise, tomato, lettuce, add bacon because it came with American cheese instead of cheddar like the others. Everything was going fine (with the exception of the constant drip from the AC vent making a small puddle in the floor beside our table) until my wife bit into a diced onion… there was a LOT of onions. Besides not liking onions, they really upset her stomach and make her sick, but she was picking them off and trying to eat it anyway. The waitress asked if everything was going okay and I told her that she didn’t ask for onions but there was a lot on her sandwich to which she replied to my wife, “You didn’t order it right, it comes with onions.” My wife said I didn’t ask for onions, I just asked for mayonnaise, tomato, lettuce, add bacon. The waitress kept repeating that my wife didn’t order it right, but this time with quite a bit more negative attitude. So, when I went to pay, and the manager(?) turned the terminal to me to leave a tip I pressed, “No thanks” and quietly told her what happened. She pretty much said the same thing, it comes with onions, you didn’t order it right. I told her, I guess, being our first time eating there, we didn’t know how to order things correctly. The waitress then inserted herself into the conversation and while my wife tried to explain to the manager what she ordered, the waitress became very angry at her. She told my her that the next time she ordered, she would need to say without onions. My wife told her that there wouldn’t be a next time and asked if she needed to call the corporate office. The waitress said something to the effect of, “Good! Go for it!!” So here we are. I don’t think it’s okay for the employees to be hostile to your patrons. We weren’t asking for free food or a refund, I just wasn’t going to leave a tip because of the bad attitude back at the table and was really glad I didn’t because of the hostility shown to us at the register. We normally leave at least a 20% or greater for exceptional service. My wife worked at Wendy’s a long time ago and told me that it didn’t matter what comes on the burger you put what the customer asks to be put on the burger. So now, we’re never eating there again and if asked, we will tell everyone we know not to eat there, all because of a misunderstanding. I know it’s hard to find workers nowadays, but companies spend a lot of money on advertising that is basically wasted when you allow employees to treat your customers this way. It’s very hard to win them back once gone. Thank you...
Read moreThe restaurant wasn't busy on the Tuesday morning we visited so we took a table immediately upon entering. Cindy, our server brought us coffee shortly after we sat down and the coffee was hot and fresh. We ordered breakfast and our food was delivered to the table in a reasonable period of time. My wife ordered crisp bacon with her meal but the bacon she received was very soft and undercooked. She sent it back and the bacon she later received was cooked as ordered. I ordered eggs over medium and country ham as part of my meal. The eggs were overcooked and the whites were slightly crusty. In addition, the country ham was very dry and tough and I was unable to eat parts of it. Our bill appeared to be correct except we were charged $1.99 for cheese though the menu stated cheese could be added to any order for 79 cents (per slice). Two slices would have been $1.58 and three slices would have been $2.37 extra. No one at the restaurant could explain how they arrived at an additional charge of $1.99 but since the amount was so small I didn't argue about it. Cindy kept my coffee cup full and checked on us regularly so our dining experience was not unpleasant. However, we would not return since Cracker Barrel is just a short distance away and we prefer...
