Cup-a-Joe has great dark roast coffee, and a great variety of coffee beans to take home. The breakfast and lunch menu is ok, and they always temp you with fresh baked treats.
Beyond the drinks and eats, I really like Cup-a-Joe's deliberately subversive feel. I like to hear the constant buzz of international languages among the patrons, the indie music playing in the background, the grungy decor, and the punk look and demeanor of the staff.
In sum, for me and many others, Cup-a-Joe is the irreverent counter-culture bubble into which we escape as a reprieve from our otherwise mundane Monday to Friday lives! Conveniently, the coffee is good, the baked goods are tempting, and the...

At every point of the sale staff try and up-sell you, from pushing to get a larger size, or add a shot, or some other modification. Let me order what I want to order! While I understand that the owners may have a problem with people using their shop as a “third space,” posting signs about it on every available surface just makes for an unwelcoming atmosphere. Despite the fact that this coffeeshop is the closest one to my house, I drive past this place to visit other...
