Eggs Up Grill — Restaurant in Raleigh

I am not even sure where to begin, as the experience here at this restaurant was less than pleasing. We were seated promptly, ordered drinks, and at this time is when is began to spiral downward. Once we were able to order, it took over an hour and 15 min to receive our food. The food was mediocre at best (it wasn't good or anywhere near the standard of what you would expect), and most of the plates came out incorrect. Several of us didn't receive toppings and the additives to the dishes that were listed on the menu, we had one egg bowl that came out with no eggs, and then we had one dish that didn't come out with the rest of the food and took another 20 -30 min to receive it (and was just a basic egg plate). We were also offered plastic silverware due to not having enough of their normal clean at the time…I would have eaten off of the plastic, as that isn’t the point, the point is it created additional levels to the dysfunctional experience that was already taking place. Our experience here began at 10am, and by noon we were walking out. The service staff seemed to be in a disarray, not knowing what to do or how to handle the inconsistency of the kitchen. In my opinion, there is a major management and owner issue at this restaurant. You could clearly tell that training and support for the staff is lacking, as our server struggled just to get our order into his hand held device. If you're looking for good food, you could do a lot better. If you're looking for good service, you could do a lot better. Vibe is good though. I don't know if the staff are overworked or undertrained, but something needs to change if this place is going to survive.

We were seated immediately, which is nice. Got our drinks pretty quickly. They do have a lactose free creamer option, which is nice. Though you have to ask for it. Plenty of half and half on the table. No spoon or stirrer in sight.

We got our food in reasonable time. No silverware. We had to ask our server for silverware. The staff had to go searching in three places in order to find enough for the four of us.

The food was alright. I wouldn't exactly recommend it, but it wasn't inedible. Just don't get the home fries, those ARE barely edible. The French fries used to be good but it appears they changed the recipe or forgot all the seasoning this time. No one checked on us after the food was delivered to see how it was or if we wanted drink refills.

This was our third visit and each time has been progressively worse...

We were a party of 10 seniors. Although the restaurant was almost empty (only 2 other tables occupied) the manager would not seat us until everyone arrived, even when 8 of 10 of us were there. It took 3 requests to seat us. It took 20 minutes for our drink orders (water, coffee) to be taken, it took 40 minutes for our food orders to be taken. When delivered (one hour after we'd been seated) one order was cold and returned, one was the wrong order and returned. Javier was our server and he was wonderful. But clearly he was overwhelmed with our large group and another table. Two staff persons (one being the manager) just stood around and didn't offer to help him. The manager chided him publicly right next to our table. The food was mediocre (how can you ruin breakfast?), and poorly presented. The atmosphere was not warm and inviting.
