We’ve been loyal patrons of Lemongrass Thai for several years now and have always found the food to be well-prepared.
The reason for my 1-star rating of Lemongrass has to do with the establishment’s deceptive business practices.
The past couple of times we’ve ordered take-out from here we’ve had issues with being charged for items that we ordered but that were not actually given to us.
The first time this occurred we were disappointed (mostly because we were starving and looking fwd to our meal) but were completely understanding of the fact that mistakes happen.
I called the restaurant immediately to make them aware of the error and to ask if they could refund the cost of the missing item. I was told that it wasn’t possible for them to provide a refund but that next time I place an order to remind them and that they would replace the missing item at that time. I found their response to be totally reasonable.
The next time we placed a take out order I mentioned the error that had occurred previously and the person taking my order just dismissed me. I let it go figuring that I could mention it in-person at pick-up.
When I went to pick up and mentioned the error the woman at the pick-up counter was, once again, dismissive and hostile towards me. She then stormed into the kitchen as if it was unreasonable of me ask that the error be corrected.
I wasn’t going to press the issue over a $15 error so I took my order and left. When I got home, once again, they had left out one of our main dishes, as well as the white rice that was supposed to come with one of the curries in our order, yet when I checked the receipt, once again, we had been charged for all items.
Now that this has happened to us twice, I would encourage anyone who orders take-out from Lemongrass to check that you’ve received all items in your order before leaving the restaurant and check your receipt! Their business practices...
Read moreWhen we walked in, it almost looked like a take out and we were looking for more of a sit down, menu, waiter, etc but that was just my very first impression because we were greeted and brought to a table and it was a great dining experience despite first appearance. Before I knew it, it was full of happy diners and there's a reason..... the food is outstanding!! Vegans , they got you! I had no problem finding lots of choices and the first thing I asked for before we opened the menu was fried tofu (sorry if that's not for vegans, I don't claim to be one but I gravitate towards it almost exclusively but you if you're a strict vegan, you would have to ask about the oil etc). Maybe we were especially excited for food and hungry after a long and fun day without eating, but that fried tofu was AWESOME. And the curry ... just great. They have a wine list and an extensive menu that you might not expect to see at a restaurant in a strip mall and if you blink, you might miss it, but don't. And the two of us each had entrees and the appetizer which was plenty filling and even with a generous tip it was under $40. Crazy! Great service, great food, great company....(and next door you can get a fantastic mani/pedi without an appt ....I didn't this time but I often do) one thing about Raleigh is that some of the best places to eat are just hidden away in little strip malls. Just a little thing I've noticed after years of living in different parts of Raleigh. Downtown is amazing but sometimes you'll find quite a gem in a neighborhood strip mall that you wouldn't notice if you weren't looking close. This is...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience. We came on a Saturday evening at 6 for the first time. The waitress was probably the most friendly server we've ever had. We had our toddler with us which is sometimes an anxious experience and she was so sweet to him. It was a small restaurant with many people but they were able to still seat us right away. Everyone who came in while we were there was able to be seated right away. The menu had many options, I went with the traditional pad Thai. I believe the default comes with shrimp but I asked for chicken instead. Hubby got the beef panang dish. While they worked on the entrees they brought our salads with a delicious ginger dressing (there's more dressing options) and fried noodles. The fried noodles came with a sweet and sour sauce that was divine. I had to stop myself from eating too many because I was already getting full before our entrees came. The pad Thai was very good! It came with a sliced lemon. It was perfectly flavored with the right amount of sauce, not dry. It was a big portion and I had to bring home leftovers that I can't wait to demolish. The beef panang dish was amazing. The flavor really surprised me with how great it was and it was saucy which is a plus. The waitress came and checked on our toddler a few times and actually helped him eat his vegetables. He got a chicken dish with rice, broccoli, and carrots. He ate almost his whole plate- why can't he do that at home?! I can't wait to go back. We came for my birthday dinner and I truly picked the right place. If that waitress ever sees this-- thank...
