Normally, I would give this Starbucks all around as it's one of my favorite locations to go to. Until yesterday.
I did my mobile order on my way to work and thought I would purchase a gift card for a colleague while there. I allotted 10 minutes for the purchase of a gift card.
When I got there, I picked out a gift card and gave it to the employee at the register. I had my phone out ready to scan my app to purchase the gift card as I had done at the Brier Creek location on another occasion.
The employee obviously did not know how to complete the transaction, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt as it seemed like they were figuring it out. However, time was ticking by and I was going to be late for work. After several failed attempts quite some time, I let the employee know I was on my way to work and asked if there was anyone who could help. The employee's response, "No."
I then reiterated I was going to be late for work with all the waiting for them to figure it out only to have the employee tell me, "Sounds like a time management problem." Meaning - it was my fault it was taking this person so long to figure it out. I allotted 10 minutes. My previous experience at the Brier Creek location was about 30 seconds. But, according to this employee, I'm the one with a time management problem.
More time ticks by while they continue to try to figure it out. I ask if there was a manager nearby. Again, the answer was "no". Finally, another employee who had been there the entire time, came over to offer assistance and was able to complete the transaction quickly. Why did the first employee not ask for assistance earlier???
When it came time to pay, I tried to scan my app which was still in my hand, clearly visible during the entire exchange including the other attempts I had made to complete the purchase, I was then told I could not use my app to make the purchase. When I asked why not, I was told, “Because we’re not a real Starbucks.” Ridiculous.
By this point I am beyond frustrated as I am now truly at risk of being late to work due to incompetent training and not asking for assistance earlier. Taking even more time, I go out to my car to get my credit card. My car was parked on the curb where they could see me walk to the car. When I came back in, they were taking care of another customer, fine, whatever, but then we had to go back through again completing my simple gift card purchase. Now I am late for work. I did express my frustration at not being told I would need a card and not my app, I could have gone to my car during the time it was taking the first employee to figure out how to activate a gift card.
Thinking this entire interaction could have gone better with adequate training in gift card purchases such as how to process it and letting the customer know if they are holding up their phone to scan, they would need a physical card, I asked again for the manager's name. I was told, and I am quoting, "There isn't one. You can go outside and look at the Westin and tell them." Just wild.
So, here I am, since I saw the owner replied to other reviews, maybe they will see it and know what is going on when they are absent. I know I am paying higher prices as this Starbucks in located in the Westin. However, I do not expect bottom-rated...
Read moreI absolutely love the ambience that meets customers entering the Starbucks at Westin Hotel In Brier Creek. I even enjoy the soft, mild hotel fragrance that meanders into the Starbucks. The soft glow of the lighting and the wonderful baristas create a super welcoming atmosphere. My ALLTIME favorite baristas are JANAE and SHANIKQUA! Not only does this team make amazing drinks but their people skills are impeccable. They are great listeners and always have a kind thought for their customers
The comfortable seating arrangements invite guests to relax, whether they’re catching up with friends or diving into work. The gentle hum of conversation blends with the sound of the espresso machine, making it a perfect backdrop for both socializing and solitude. Seasonal decorations add a touch of charm, enhancing the overall experience. Each visit feels like a little retreat from the hustle and bustle outside, making it my go-to spot for a cozy little...
Read moreI placed a mobile order and allowed more than enough time for it to be completed per the app. When I arrived, the order had not even been barely started. The store was empty, and there were three staff members present, including the manager. Despite this, I was left waiting additional time while the staff stood around talking instead of addressing my order.
When I finally received my order, I asked if a certain ingredient had been added, as it did not appear to be there. The employee responded with, “didn’t you see me pour it,” which was unprofessional and unnecessary. My question was reasonable, and her attitude was unacceptable.
This was my first visit and will be my last. The service I experienced was unacceptable given the lack of business and staff available. The Starbucks across the street at Alexander Place consistently provides me better service. Unfortunately, this location also reflects poorly on the Westin Hotel it is...
