Came here for the first time and ordered chicken salad sandwich and 1/2 lb pimento cheese. Chicken salad had plenty of chicken but taste was a little lacking. Ask for pickles in my sandwich which I didn’t get. No big deal… what I am most upset about is the service I got from the two people that were working there. Why oh why does it take literally 35-40 mins for someone to scoop 1/2lb of pimento cheese into a clear container for me, while 4 people behind me already had their order. The girl after me order 1 lb chicken salad, 2 people after her order soup, sandwich, and chicken salad. So I don’t get why my wait was so long when the container of pimento cheese was clearly sitting on the counter. The boy took my order but clearly did not care. The older lady that was helping him eventually scoop my pimento cheese and got it in a container and left it there to talk to another lady. I told her that she did not have to put it in a bag as my sick mother was waiting for me in the car. Instead of giving it to me she said it’s ok and put it in the bag real quick then proceed to hand me the bag of pimento cheese. I cannot think of any reason why I had to wait so long when I was ahead of so many people. Was it because I was Asian? If being racist was not the intention, I hope in the future that if staff cannot multi task efficiently, then please focus on 1 order at a time. There should be no reason why I had to wait so long for something that clearly can take 1 minute to do. People times are precious so...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for years. Today I stopped in to grab a chicken salad sandwich. Typically when I order I’m greeted in a nice manner. The younger lady working the counter did the opposite. She was very rude to me. Didn’t say hello, rolled her eyes at me while placing my order etc.. whatever, that doesn’t matter. When I received my sandwich I noticed there was barely any chicken salad on the sandwich. EVERY TIME I order a chicken salad sandwich the older lady would pack on a good amount of chicken salad on the sandwich. That wasn’t the case with the younger lady. I paid $11 for a sandwich and felt as if I was ripped off. The younger lady was also yelling at the older lady (which is the owner of the establishment). They need to do a better job at training her in humanity and making a “famous Tookie chicken salad sandwich” I’m very disappointed. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this place when you see the younger lady working. Unless you enjoy eating...
Read moreThis place was awesome! I had the chicken salad sandwich with toasted bread and my husband had a hot dog with chili and a bacon cheeseburger. Everything was fantastic! The atmosphere was very layed back and welcoming! The owners treat you like family. The owner sat down beside my husband and I for about 30 minutes and we had such an intimate conversation about life and the importance of family. We felt like we had known him for years and we shared such intimate details about our kids and grandkids. They are wonderful, hardworking and honest people. The experience was such a pleasure! It was such an unexpected and amazing encounter. We have truly found a great new place to eat and wonderful new friends! Looking forward to...
