After having lived on Hillsborough for over a year, I'm fairly sure I've eaten a chicken sandwich at every place that serves them on or around the North Campus stretch. I can confidently say that the chicken sandwich here is the best chicken sandwich on Hillsborough street. However, I look at the price and I'm not sure my heart can take it. $13.60 for a chicken sandwich combo? My grave marker will end up having to pay my debts. Even 10 dollars at Wings Over seems a bit steep for me, but the deeper your pockets, the greater your pleasures. If you have the extra money and want to spend it on chicken, there's no better place than here. The restaurant itself is located on one of the many underappreciated side-roads of Hillsborough, and is fairly spacious. The decor is uniform and sets a nice tone that even resonates with the "Open" sign in the window. If you're the environmentally friendly sort, the lids for the cups are designed to be used without a straw. Unfortunately, the small size of the ice means you'll more often than not be taking a ball of ice with you whenever you take a sip of your drink. This however, is a minor annoyance at best, and easily solved with larger chunks of ice. Overall, while I may not be able to afford it on the regular, there aren't very many "luxury" options on Hillsborough street, likely because everyone is a broke college student. For those who are fortunate enough to be ignorant of every good deal on Hillsborough for every day of the week and for every time of day, to reiterate, this is the best chicken sandwich on Hillsborough. Read moreDO NOT COME HERE. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I tried to just let it go, but their awful food actually sent me into a depressive episode. I was already having a bad day, and I just wanted a nice meal to end my day. I ordered the chicken thigh wings and curly fries, both with seasoning, but for some reason, neither had any seasoning on them. The chicken skin was very dry and tough to bite through and had maybe 2 specks of seasoning. The garlic parm fries that I ordered had maybe 7 pieces of Parmesan cheese and nothing else. I had to add my own seasoning when I got home and I still ended up throwing the fires away as they were so horrible. I had to get good from another place because I was still so hungry after trying to eat my wing it on meal. I trusted the rating but I should have looked at the actual reviews. I have no idea how they have such a high rating when almost all the top reviews...
Read moreThis place is exactly what Raleigh needed. Tried it out for the first time and oh my lord was it great. We ordered 24 classic style wings half red white and blue and half honey heat. The sauces were absolutely phenomenal. I got my son 5 boneless wings thinking they were going to be like other chicken places I’ve been to and boy I was wrong. The boneless wings are full sized tenders. He ate one and a half and was done. We made all of our meals combos with the fries and they have some great seasonings to pick from. We were not sure exactly how they would taste being first timers but we chose the kickin Cajun which is out of this world and sweet and smoky which was also great. Do yourself a favor my fellow people and give it a try you will not be...
