The lighting in the room needed to be brighter, especially the sink and bathroom areas. Super dim and made it seem dingy. There were some cleanliness issues in our room and the hotels main areas- hair on the toilet and sink areas in the room itself, dust and bits of trash in the hotel. Our AC or window had leaked into the room carpet, the front desk sent a maintenance man up to check it out and it wasn’t a dire situation so we didn’t feel the need to change rooms.
The hotels decor and styling was super cool and fun! My husband and I enjoyed the billiard table and had a drink at the bar. The outside deck was fun- we played giant Connect Four and had breakfast the next morning out there. The deck tables need to be upgraded or leveled better. The plastic chairs were kind of chincy, the cement top tables were classier. Could definitely have used some care in cleaning and maintaining a better appearance overall- wipe down wet tables and chairs, straighten the tables and chairs, turn on the fireplace.
The chef who cooked our breakfast did an awful job making my breakfast “bowl”, which was served smashed and over cooked in a paper cup- did not look even a little bit like the photo on the order board. When asked to make me French toast instead the chef slammed his pan down and huffed about having to make something new. The front desk lady, had walked over with my husband to figure out the issue and she was sweet about it all.
Once my new breakfast was finished the chef brought it out, and never spoke a word to us, removed the napkin covering it, handing it to me and walked away. The French toast and fruit was delicious and served on a plate this time.
The pool didn’t have towels so my husband asked the front desk and was assured someone would find some and bring them out, however, no one did. My husband and I ended up putting our swim covers on over sopping wet swimwear and went to our room to dry off and change.
Overall we made the best of the stay, as it was our anniversary, but I’m unsure we would return.
Again, the decor and styling make it fun and inviting but the little details knocked down my rating from...
Entrance hard to find. Bottom floor not used since COVID so you walk in from parking lot to an empty desk. Figured out that you have to go up two flights of steps to check in. What are you suppose to do with your luggage. Shlep it up two flights of stairs to find someone?
HOTEL is Subpar! It has potential, but it feels like they try to make your stay miserable and confusing. ROBIN, the supervisor, interrupted EVERYTIME I was at the desk even though I had another person taking care of me. Savannah was GREAT.
“Suites” are SMALL and DARK. Bathroom door hard to open and not attached to the bottom . Refrigerator, BUT NO Microwave.
Decided to leave early and I gave a day’s notice which is the policy. Had to go through the supervisor who had to go speak with the general manager before it was granted! WHY?
WEBSITE: This is what is posted on their official website. Some items untrue.
Hotel details: "On a tree-lined boulevard across from North Carolina State University, this stylish hotel is a mile from the Contemporary Art Museum of Raleigh and 2 miles from the North Carolina State Capitol.
Streamlined rooms have colorful accents and a modern vibe. All come with free Wi-Fi and 49-inch flat-screen TVs, plus minifridges and coffeemakers. Suites have separate living areas.
A hip restaurant/bar offers regular live music. Other amenities include a terrace, a gym and an outdoor pool, along with meeting space. NO restaurant although the website says there is. Apparently they use to have food at one time. Right now, nothing but a bar that is only open a couple of hours it seems. No live music No free wifi. Only if you join the free loyalty club.
Pool is 3 FT deep at the deepest level and is not well kept .After visiting their website, seeing a 4 star rating, and the description of the many amentities, I booked the room at what I thought was a special good rate. Later saw rooms range from $160-$300.
They need to look at details over style. Even their breakfast procedure needs a revamping. Bet I could help streamline...
Read moreI almost never do this, but I can confidently say I will never stay at this hotel ever again.
The hotel itself is nicely renovated and stylish with the design and furniture. However, I stay at hotels for the peaceful private space and good sleep, both of which were not had in the four nights I was there this week.
Night 1: I was put on the third floor overlooking the bell tower. Beautiful tower. Thought I was so lucky. Discovered hair along the edges of the closet (pictured) but I figured it’s okay, I’ll just run a towel along the edge. Woken up at 630am by insanely loud truck rumbling outside my window. Turns out I was so lucky it was the morning US foods delivers to the hotel and it stops out front for a while to unload everything but leaves the truck running for the fridge items. It was so loud that the front desk person who came to give me a new room key commented how loud it was from my room doorway. I was moved to the sixth floor for more quiet.
Night 2: Perhaps I was too tired to notice the day before but the bell tower starts rolling on the hour starting at 8am. There is nothing on the hotel site or check in that mentions this. 8am is not crazy early but it is early when your alarm is set for 9am and you lose an extra hour of sleep. If I had known I would’ve gone to bed earlier so I would be okay woken up earlier.
Night 3: Slept fine until I woke up to the sound of something dropping on my ceiling every ten minutes for half an hour at 7am. Sounded like something was getting knocked over periodically in the room above me.
Night 4: Saw the NC State gathering by the bell tower across the street at night and got worried it would be loud all night. Thankfully they ended by 9! After settling in to sleep comfortably, I get to wake up to the loud voices of kids and parents in the adjoining room at 620am because there is a clear empty space under the connecting doors.
There’s basically no sound proofing at this hotel. I have lost sleep every single night. I’d recommend staying from a Monday to Wednesday if you do choose to stay, ask for a high room floor, and no adjoining room, but I won’t be...
