An astoundingly negative experience. There was literally nothing about this establishment that I would recommend. Service took an inordinately long time as the two people behind the counter gave every impression that they were literally moving in slow motion. The fact that a Mediterranean restaurant didn’t actually have a vegetarian option for my date was very odd, and substituting half an avocado for chicken is frankly weird, and mall-food-court level pedestrian.
The tzatziki sauce and hummus were functionally indistinguishable from one another. One of them tasted mostly like room temperature mayonnaise - with matching consistency - the other like Elmer’s glue. Neither could be described as edible.
The salad had more than one lettuce cores in it, which given the rest of the meal was unsurprising, and the salad dressing was not only “mostly” oil, but entirely oil, with what might have been paprika mixed into it in such great proportions that when it was spooned over the salad we thought momentarily that it was barbecue sauce. Despite this, there was absolutely no flavor to this element of the meal and the salad tasted like it was swimming in bulk commercial olive oil. The salad did contain a single olive, which was literally one of the high points of the meal, unfortunately - despite the establishment having the regrettably stylized word “olivz” in its name, only one olive (“oliv” ?) was offered, which came off as cheap on the restaurant’s part. The other high point of the meal was the clearly factory-made stuffed grape leaf, but as only one was provided, this was a disappointment as well.
The pita bread was also commercial grade and clearly factory-made, which isn’t that unusual, but there wasn’t a lot of it and the few pieces I got were all outrageously different in size, which didn’t make them taste less like obligatory bread product, but was simply annoying given how little attention was paid to getting literally any other element of the meal right - except, of course, for the single “oliv.”
The chicken was unbearably dry and, much like everything else here, completely tasteless. I mixed it into a regrettable concoction of the glue-hummus and mayo-tzatziki and it all still tasted like starch and warm mayo.
In the end, we were in a hurry and didn’t have time to complain and demand a refund because we were headed to a ticketed event and complaining would have made us late on account of the initial service being so staggeringly slow.
This was an appalling waste of money (+$30 despite tasting like low-budget corporate catering) and time and I will never eat at one of these...
Read moreI work on campus and have gone to the Jasmine across the street from NCSU for as long they've been there. Majority of the time I get a chicken bowl with no chickpeas, but onions instead. Mind you I have never had a problem until today. I was told it could not be done and I would have to pay extra and so forth. After going back and forth with a young lady who I assume was the Manager, she finally reluctantly said I will do this time, but no more! Then when I goto the register to checkout my total was $8.65 I proceed to give the cashier $10 I was then told I needed the correct change and she points to the sign they had hung up, which I have attached. I only had $10 and she was like well we need the correct change, so then I had to buy an extra pita, which made my total an even $10. Not sure what has happened as far Management/customer service, but this is not the service I've been given for the last serveral years. If this continues to happen I'm sure I won't be the only one who decides to take there business elsewhere. Needless to say it was not a...
Read moreToday I went to Jasmin for lunch in between classes. I am college student so I’m on a budget. That said, I decided to order the kids chicken and cheese panini with a side of fries. The kids chicken and cheese panini with a side of fries usually cost $5-$6. When I got to the register it said I owed $10. So I spoke to the person ringing me up who also appeared to be some sort of assistant manager and he explained to me that they decided to make the order bigger for me, more of an adult size so the price increased. I then asked him to give me what I ordered which was the kids item. There was a huge line and I was also trying to transition to class so when he offered to remake the order I declined because I had somewhere to be. The point is don’t go here, they do not give you what you order. They give you whatever they would like to give you that is most profitable for them. The customer service is not only lacking but tries to take advantage of college students to increase the price whenever possible....
