This garden is great year around. Yes, the best is seeing all the various colors of tulips and roses in bloom during spring, but there’s almost always some flowers even in late fall, and still color in the winter. I feel at peace whenever I go here- and it’s within a few blocks of Hillsborough Street on NCSU main campus- perfect spot for a stressed college student like me to decompress. Been going here since I was a child and went to Raleigh Little Theater- my first memory of this place was my dad taking me to the garden that I saw in the window and I felt just like Mary in the Secret Garden. To this day I still see Dads taking their daughters here and it’s the most wholesome thing to witness. It’s also got a ton of places to sit with someone- you can end up talking for hours on end with the right person while...
Read moreSuch a beautiful garden tucked into a neighborhood with free street parking and no entrance free. So many types of roses that were blooming more than how pretty it was the lovely floral smell wafting in the air was extraordinary. It had rained heavily earlier in the week damaging many of the flowers or knocking the petals off the flowers and it was still stunning. We walked around for about an hour enjoying the flowers including butterfly weed, peonies and many other flowers. On the back side of the rose garden, there is a lovely outdoor theater that I’d love to go back to see an outdoor play. This is a treasure in Raleigh and highly recommend a visit when the flowers are in bloom. Would highly...
Read moreI hate to rave about this place because it is a nice quiet spot in a neighborhood. My dog really loves it here. The roses are the main attraction, laid out in rows in the middle of a large yard, downhill from the street parking. Woodland plantings around the edge hold plenty of smells for your dog, but also some beautiful flowers when the roses aren't in bloom. Think daffodils, Lenten roses and camilas. This is to the side of Raleigh Little Theater, and you can walk along the amphitheatre too. There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the quiet. I've seen activities for kids, for example following the pages of a story through the garden. Highly recommend, but...
