The restaurant has a beautiful name Haveli. For those who don't know the meaning, it is generic term used for a traditional townhouse and mansions in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh usually one with historical and architectural significance.
From what I heard, this restaurant recently opened for business. From outside, the appearance is simple and the name is written in English and Pakistani. As you walk in, there is a lounge area and a figurine dressed up in salwaar. It looks really nice. Later I realized they displayed the outfit because they're selling it. As soon as we walked through the main door , we were greeted by the owner. He seemed nice and seated us right away. At 7.15pm only two tables were occupied. We quickly ordered the appetizer fish pakora while we were deciding on the entrรฉe. The waitress was very friendly and she took our drink order. She kept asking, if we wanted to order any special drink from the back of the menu. Great sales person. We declined twice since water add fine for us. It was close to 7.50pm, they delivered the fish pakora. They came and informed us the food will be coming out shortly. It took forever for them to deliver the food. I assumed they were new and still figuring out how to handle the business. A little improvement needed on service. Overall the food was not like wow....I want to come here again to eat. The waitress recommended garlic naan. Hmm...it wasn't that great. And I asked her for Chillies and she said you mean black pepper? No, actual spicy Chillies. She said, I'll get it for you. Later when my food arrived, I asked again. Then she tells me oh...we don't have it. I was disappointed, she never bothered to tell me it was not available. And she never refilled our water glasses. The chicken tikka had different flavors which was good as well. The taste is slightly different compared to other restaurant. Don't come here expecting similar taste profile. The shrimp in the biryani was perfectly cooked. I liked the shrimp more than the rice.
There are not that many tables inside the restaurant. Around 8.30pm several tables were occupied and they were busy. They do have a paan station. I didn't try it. The waitress asked me if we wanted dessert. I said no because I wasn't planning to sit and wait another 30...
ย ย ย Read moreI've eaten here in-person, done carry out, and received delivery through grub-hub. Probably a total of 20 times and LITERALLY, over half of our orders have been completely messed up. Either missing food or totally wrong orders. It IS very tasty authentic Indian food, super good, the best I've had in Sacramento honestly, but just be aware most likely they are going to mess up your order; especially If your order from grub hub or donโt check your order before you leave from carry out. The second time my girlfriend and I ate in-person, found a massive dead fly in our dipping sauce. I get it, it happens sometimes. Not a giant deal. But the deal breaker is their delivery service and how they treat customers when Haveli alters the customer's order.
We've had delivery three times, and all three times, HORRIBLE experience. The first time they forgot an entire entree and blamed it on grubhub and we were left in the dust. The refunded the entree but minus one dish so we had to share. The second time they forgot an order of rice, same thing. Had to share our dish and they refunded the rice. The third time I ordered two entrees and two sides of rice and they purposefully cancelled one entree from the order. When I called, angry once again for waiting an hour for our dinner and not receiving all of our food, they told me that entree wasn't on the menu for that night. When I told them I was able to order it through the grubhub app, they told me that it just wasn't on the menu. The woman taking my call didn't seem to care at all and was irritated with me saying that she couldn't do anything about other than if I wanted to order another entree that I could. And wait ANOTHER hour? No way. They never even called to tell me that they didn't have the entree that evening. Why would they give me one entree with TWO side orders of rice? Who...
ย ย ย Read moreNo toilet paper in the bathrooms. The kitchen does not follow COVID or other health and safety protocols. The conference room is not clean, do not host any events here unless you plan on cleaning the place up yourself and then getting food that is not fresh. It was pre-made, the kabobs were dry, the chicken in the tikka masala was dry, and not enough meat for everyone, there was so much sauce but not any chicken left in the serving dish. They mixed the chicken and goat dishes in the same tray which is a no-no for those who don't eat chicken or vice versa. They should have the staff serve the food, esp. now a days, you should not let people self-serve. The soda was flat, probably Shasta even though they lied and claimed that they would be serving us Coke. And then they started picking up napkins while people were eating. Rushed us out of there. The plastic tables are broken and need to be replaced. The curtains need to be washed and the carpet and chairs need a deep cleaning; after every event. Per COVID protocols they should have an air purifier in the room and they should clean the place after every event. I do not recommend this place to anyone who is seeking quality food, service, and cleanliness. They are not professional or focused on providing quality customer service. I will not be doing business here ever again. This place...
