Phat Jerry's Phillies — Restaurant in Rancho Cordova

First time going and I must say that the customer service here needs lots of improving, the staff does not wash their hands, the owner is rude, combative and very unprofessional! The food is over priced and the young lady (cashier/food prep) is totally rude. So as Im ordering I notice the cashier/food handler takes my money and proceeds to the stove and touches the food with her bare hands (the same hands she touched the money with). Yes!! She failed to wash her hands before touching my food! So as im watching her and the young man (also a cook) make the sandwiches I notice the young man wipe his face with his hand and then grabbs the bread (with bare hands) and hands it to the young lady. Now that alone made me want a refund. So I ask for a refund and the young lady rolls her eyes and walks to the back (assuming shes getting the manager) without saying anything to me. So walks out from the back was a man who already had an attitude and right away he starts to ask was there something wrong with my food and I stated I would like my refund please and he proceeds with a speech about hes a small businesses owner and that me and my husband shouldn't be going around doing this to people (asking for a refund because the staff doesn't wash their hands before touching the food they serve) all while hes angry yelling and screaming trying to intimidate my husband. As hes screaming I politely asked if we can just have our refund and he screams again and tells me I need to leave his business smh! So I walk out because hes SCREAMING at me, which about 6 other customers witnessed. I DO NOT reccomend this establishment! The owner handled my situation very poorly also the owner should tell his staff to be more vigilant about washing their hands as well! Gross! Gross! Gross! Getting a good Philly cheese steak is like a endless quest for me, there are a lot of places in Sac where you can get one, most are pretty good, but its few and far between where you finish one and tell your self "that was awesome!"

Somebody on reddit was asking for suggestions for a cheese steak, most of them were you standard locations, but Phat Jerry's was getting a lot of love on that thread, so the wife and I decided to take a lunch time trip down to watt ave to try one out.

We decided to get the "hoagie" cheese steak we like a little bit of lettuce, tomato and mayo on our cheese stakes. After about 10 mins our food was ready and we went to where we were parked to check them out.

These had so much meat, cheese, onions that we could tell it was going to be a challenge to eat these without making a mess. I wasn't expecting the lettuce and tomato's to just be sitting on top of it all but it didn't look like there was any other option to put it.

After waiting a couple of mins for them to cool down enough to pick them up and start. I took my first bite... WOW!!! these were good, there are some peppers in there that have a little bit of a kick. not so hot where it takes away from the flavor, but still pretty hot. (boarderline for us) The bread was hot and soft, there was a ton of meat and cheese and we were stuffed after we were done. The onion rings were awesome also! I have been here plenty of times never had an issue with my food everything was always great, my co worker suggested here today for lunch. I always got the extra loaded philly cheese steak but today it was extremely dry. I took it back, the owner came out and was so extremely rude to me. I was honestly hurt and was in disbelief we are talking about some cheese that i was unable to fine on my sandwich. I think the workers put the extra cheese on my co workers because hers looked amazing

The manager yelled at me took the food i had an issue with and through it in the garbage and ordered the workers to make me another one. I said wow i cant wait to tell my friend at the county who requested we come here about this,

being that i have been here plenty times not even being at work,

Thanks for coming in. You indicated that you used to like coming in. It seems today we didnt meet your standard. I would like to know if you let anyone know that something was wrong or do you feel this is the way to handle your complaint. If so let it be and sorry we couldnt do right by you.
