This is my first review of any restaraunt ever. I stopped by around 2-4 pm and there was no one there except for a wondeful person, Marci. Absolutely someone who cares about their place and their quality of food. Listen, there was a table unbussed while I was eating but it's a large seating area and I honestly didn't mind. She was working and I've been there myself, running a store alone. She was more than welcoming and without saying any specific names, the garlic twists with bacon where so well baked that I really noticed it and they far surpassed any twists I've ever gotten from any other pizza place. Soft, yet fully cooked. Like a cloud of joy and was really well paired with the in house made ranch dipping sauce. Which I was told was a favorite and was pleasently surprised with not only the flavor but the consistency; like a high quality, often changed oil lubricating the most precious parts.
My ratings are my honest experience. The food and service where exceptional but sadly, the atmosphere is not to a Gordon level. I'm completely fine with it but I could see how others would judge it. For me, that's not a bad thing. I appreciate the atmosphere because I'm retro... In other words, I miss the ol days.
The reason for my 3 star rating in atmosphere was my table was a little sticky and the place does need a refurbushing. There's some charm in old tables but at some point, they are too degraded to comfortably function. Don't let this deter you from visiting this place however, a little sticky and old school vibe really hide the true passion in this place which is the food; and even though I didn't order a salad, I checked out the bar and it was CLEAN and fresh. There...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Straw Hat Pizza in Rancho Cordova for years now, and I have to say it’s one of my favorite spots. When I first heard about Straw Hat, I (mistakenly) thought it was just another cheap fast-food pizza chain, but after trying their pizza for the first time, I was hooked. I've been a Straw Hat Pizza lover ever since!
I usually come here with friends and family, and we almost always dine in. The atmosphere is perfect - not too loud, but not boring either. It’s just the right vibe for a relaxed meal. The staff are always friendly, which makes the experience extra special.
The pizza here truly hits the spot. The crust is perfect - not too thick, not too thin - but just the right balance. You can tell they know how to make a great pizza here. Whether you're in the mood for a classic or something more adventurous, they nail it every time.
Another thing I love about this place in particular is their salad bar. It’s increasingly rare to find a good salad bar these days at pizza places, but Straw Hat does it right! Fresh, crisp, and always stocked with a variety of options. It's the perfect complement to the pizza.
There’s plenty of seating inside, so it’s a great place to dine in, but if you’re in a rush, you can easily grab a pizza to go. The prices are also super reasonable for the quality you get, which is a huge plus.
If you're looking for a solid, delicious pizza spot, I highly recommend Straw Hat Pizza in Rancho Cordova. You won’t be...
Read moreEverything about our experience here was terrible. We ordered spaghetti and meat balls and the sauce was just pizza sauce and the “meatballs” were inedible: obviously frozen prepackaged from Costco or somewhere, and worse appeared and tasted like they had been heated and cooled and heated again at least 4-5 times, probably in a microwave. The staff had cut them into little bits in an attempt to hide their nature, so they weren’t even “balls”. We were very hungry so we ate a few bites but left the rest. Honestly I wish I had put my finger down my throat to throw up the “meatball” bits I did eat. The table was sticky and dirty. And I wouldn’t go to this trouble if it was just bad food and unclean facilities, but the owner/boss lady was rude and hostile to the point of being offensive. When I asked if they had spaghetti, she rolled her eyes and threw up her hands in disgust as if how stupid of me to even ask. And the customers after us, an elderly couple just trying to order a pizza and two drinks, she accused of trying to steal a drink because she didn’t see two cups and thought they were going to share one. When shown that they had two cups she apologized loudly but insincerely. We didn’t get pizza so maybe the pizza is ok here, but everything else was...
