As a passionate sushi lover who enjoys making my own especially tuna sashimi and poke bowls from the fresh tuna I catch—I always appreciate a well-crafted sushi experience. And oh boy; my recent visit to Nami Sushi in Rancho Santa Margarita absolutely exceeded my expectations! My family (a group of four) started with a few appetizers: • Baked Green Mussels - Baked to perfection with just the right amount of flavor. A must-try! Edamame - Fresh, crisp, and perfectly salted. Simple yet satisfying. • Soft Shell Crab - Incredibly tasty, crispy, and full of flavor. If you love soft shell crab, this is a must-have when you visit. For the main course, we enjoyed a variety of rolls and a mixed sashimi plate: • Mix Sashimi - Fresh, high-quality cuts that truly highlight the natural flavors of the fish. This is how I determine if a sushi spot is a go-to, and Nami Sushi passed with flying colors! • Fire Love Roll - Not only is this roll delicious, but it also adds to the ambiance, arriving at the table on fire! A fun and flavorful experience. • Spider Roll - Since I love soft shell crab, I had to try it in roll form, and it did not disappoint. Crunchy, well-balanced, and packed with flavor. • RSM Tempura Roll - As a local, I couldn't pass up the roll named after the city. The tempura was light and crispy, adding the perfect texture. From the quality of the sushi to the beautiful presentation and overall experience, every bite was worth it. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast like me or just looking for a great spot in RSM, Nami Sushi is a must-visit. I'll definitely be...
Read moreI had a hard time giving this place a rating. It replaces a well loved sushi place, Niko Niko which I hear was good. I ordered a Philadelphia roll, a spicy tuna roll and a salmon skin handroll.
The salmon skin handroll (temaki) was excellent and on the sweet side, which is fine by me. There was plenty of umami flavor and crunch. The chef was generous with the salmon skin. The other two rolls were average. The tuna was spicy but that was the only flavor I tasted and the tuna didn't feel luxurious enough in the mouth. The Philadelphia roll wasn't smooth enough as well. Take a look at the pics.
I've been spoiled by other places in Los Angeles. If the rice isn't warm and seasoned properly and fresh, I leave slightly disappointed. I did appreciate them keeping the rice on the thin side and the very nice presentation.
The two sushi chefs working at noon on a Friday were older, which to me means they knew what they were doing. They greated me at the door which is the traditional Japanese tradition. I got my order quickly. And all of the staff was friendly, especially the waitresses. They were friendly to the other set of customers as well.
I was also given an amuse bouche of a dragon ball and a palate cleanser of apple slices, peanut butter and maybe a basalmic vinegar glaze. That was really nice. In the end, I would have given a higher rating if what I ordered was a level up.
If you aren't picky about your sushi, this place is perfectly fine....

The sushi at Nami Sushi is truly outstanding—fresh, beautifully crafted, and full of flavor. The variety is impressive, with everything from classic nigiri and sashimi to creative specialty rolls. The spicy tuna roll and the signature Nami roll were absolutely delicious, showcasing the skill and artistry of the sushi chefs.
What really impressed me was the quality of ingredients and the attention to detail in each piece. Every bite was a testament to their commitment to excellence. The presentation was also stunning, making the meal as much a visual delight as a culinary one.
Overall, Nami Sushi offers a top-tier sushi experience that I highly recommend to any sushi enthusiast. I look forward to returning soon to enjoy more of their delectable offerings!
