I love this place. The staff is always cheery and friendly and the coffee is delicious. The bagels, honestly can't be beat. The texture, taste and size of the bagels are unmatched anywhere in the area. Believe me, I've tried most places. They have a huge selection of bagels that run from plain to chocolate chip, to veggie and blueberry. I haven't even scratched the surface on all the varieties they have. The variety of cream cheese flavors is numerous as well. They serve breakfast sandwiches of all varieties namely, my favorite, the nova lox sandwich. They also carry chocolate chip banana bread, and I think, cinnamon buns...(but don't quote me on that, I'm not a cinnamon bun fan, so I only think that) They have Lattes, cappuccino, steamers, and smoothies as well as a cooler filled with juices, milks, and cold coffees When you buy their bagels in bulk, they stay fresher longer than store bought and big chain bagel places. (Again, I know firsthand). They carry books by local authors and books on the local area's history and geography as well as the Little House on the Prairie books and the book series by Rose Wilder. They carry cookbooks on local cooking and delights and souvenir type items like quality line fleece jackets, and coffee tumblers with the Black Hills Bagels logo emblazoned on them. The main seating area fits probably 30. In addition they have a nice, cozy lounge area with comfy sofas and smaller intimate seating where the sun streams through the windows on lazy mornings. (This area probably seats 12 between the couch and the tables.) This is a locally owned business who respects and serves it's patrons well. Once you visit, you'll want to...
Read moreVisiting rapid city, and when I saw they had chocolate chunk bagels I had to stop by. It's definitely a unique establishment, with a quaint vibe, with both take out and table service available. I just ordered a toasted chocolate chunk bagel with cream cheese, total came to about $4. Some members of my family also ordered their own bagels as well. From here the experience quickly turned sour...after standing and waiting for my simple order, I noticed several people who ordered after me had already received their selections. They seemed to be confused on how to deliver my order, and my sister who was with me and placed and order of her own, noticed our bagels sitting on the counter, packaged and completely ignored by the service staff. She actually had to ask for them, upon which they were noticed and delivered. I can only imagine how long those bagels would have sat there before our sad, hungry faces betrayed the sense of frustration we felt.
After that confusing debacle, the actual bagels were decent. They tasted fresh, and had a good amount of chewynwss. Even the cream cheese was copiously applied and quite creamy. However, that actual chocolate chips/chunks were a bit lacking, and it was challenging to consider find the taste of the chips.
If you're reading this, stay vigilant after your order, make sure you get your...
Read moreWe finally got to stop in and grab a few bagels in our way through town. The bagels are definitely delicious, fluffy, and perfect to toast with your favorite topping. However the cream cheese selection was alright and the cheddar pepper was not very good. I wish they had a jalapeño option to select. There is nothing like a good Asiago bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. We also tried a few others and honestly wasn’t too impressed with the cream cheeses. We did end up ordering some coffees and a chai and I will say the chai was one of the best I have ever had. The coffee was also equally as delicious but be careful with the serving temperature. I really wanted to try a bagel sandwich but honestly the pricing was too high for a a small town bagel shop at $13 a sandwich regardless of what toppings were on it. When we went there wasn’t a line and it didn’t take long to get our order. The cashier was nice and also the lady who made our coffee was sweet. If you are not a coffee drinker there was a large variety of other drinks for you in a fridge to pick from. Also there seemed to be a large seating area but not sure how busy it gets as we went at weird time of day. Overall get your bagels for the week here, but maybe skip the cream...
