My mom has raved about this place to me as my friends and I were planning our trip here, and it was very disappointing. We felt our waitress Abby did not feel genuine in her service. We had to watch her come by about 3 times and leave a pile of plates on our table from our appetizers. We had to ask her to take them away when she came by a fourth time. My friends wanted to order side salads for the additional $2.09, Abby did not explain to them that the salad that was chosen for them (a Cobb salad) about $20. Abby suggested that they split the salad to save money, but they were charged more than the side salad price. We had to ask for bread and when it came it was cold in the middle, we had to ask a different waiter to take it away because Abby was not around. When she came back and we told her about it, she did not seem apologetic about it and seemed to hope that we would not ask for bread in the first place. When our food came, it looked like a bunch of frozen food thrown on to a plate and microwaved. I myself ordered a prime rib sandwich and the meat was more like roast beef than anything. When we were paying, the man at the register threw my friends receipts at them and seemed rude when we expressed that we were not happy with the restaurant when he asked us how our meal was. We were hoping that the pie would make up for our visit. My aunt, who came with us, called earlier in the day to have a fresh one made for us to bring home and enjoy and it was disappointing to eat. The crust was chewy and not flaky, and the entire pie had a slight after taste of freezer. We were very disappointed and we do not believe we will be...
Read moreWell... since my response was not what the owner would have went with... our first time at Colonial house was a month ago. As I stated the food was bland. I ordered the open face roast beef sandwhich, my wife ordered the nacho plate and our son had the kids macaroni and cheese. My roast beef sandwich was bland and it took quite a bit of salt and pepper to give it some flavor. My wife's nachos were also bland and lacked flavor, maybe due to the fact they chopped up a hamburger patty instead of using seasoned ground beef. As for for my son's meal, I'm 100% sure it was boxed kraft Mac n cheese that had been made earlier in the day. Just because it's a kids meal doesn't give an excuse to skimp on quality.
Getting refills on the drinks was a no easy task as the waitstaff is as unsocial as they are unfriendly.
We did opt for desert and the 7 layer bar was amazing. So much so that we stopped specifically to get it again on our next trip through.
Our second visit was a few weeks later traveling through. I convinced my wife we should stop and get a 7 layer bar to share on the road. It took a good 15 minutes for her to walk in and get service at the front counter. Again the staff lacked the desire to be there and actually interact with customers.
So, was this the chalk you were looking for? Maybe spend less time on witty comebacks and more time seasoning the food and hiring...

When our food came out we didn’t have bacon or cheese on our burgers. We had to flag the waitress down to get any help. After telling her about no bacon or cheese she simply went to the back and just grabbed bacon and cheese and threw it on a plate and brought it out to us. Offered nothing for the mishap. Which wouldn’t have been a big deal if the place was busy or she had come to our table more. Another incident in the same visit was that an intoxicated man approached us and was talking to us. We were obviously very uncomfortable and two waiters just stood there and stared. While a lovely waitress then came up and was able to convince him to walk away. After we were done our waitress just gave us the bill and left and Never asked how anything was. So when we went up to pay we complained and the hostess or whoever she was she was lovely and offered us some cheesecake for the mishaps. The real kicker came when we went to another restaurant and had another bison burger. This is where we discovered that we in fact did not have bison burgers here. But we were charged the 4 dollars per patty up charge. Oh and did I mention that the burgers came out way over cooked!!! When we asked for...
