Clean Plates Cafe & Juice Bar — Restaurant in Reading

First time trying this vegan joint, and I have to say, that "cheezesteak" really is delicious. I don't know if they sautee the mushrooms or grill it or what, but whatever they are doing, they should keep doing it. The substitute cheese they use pairs well with the mushrooms, and together in hero it taste pretty darn good.

I also tried the chop cheese and the beyond burger. I believe both of these items use beyond meat, but I definitely enjoyed the chop cheese alot more than the burger. Smashing up the beyond patties and mixing in the cheese gave the sandwich a better flavor than the beyond burger. Not that any of these choices were bad, but I would point newcomers to the chop cheese instead of the beyond burger.

So far these are the only items I've tried. Out of the three items, I believe the cheezesteak is my favorite so far and than the chop cheese follows after. I will order again from this place soon, maybe tomorrow, haha.

Overall pretty solid first impression. Will update once I try more...

We were in Reading for a concert at Santander Arena and were excited to find an all vegan place right up the street. We quickly checked in and hot footed up the street. It's located inside a food court in a repurposed old bank building. We tried the 6 piece "chicken" tenders and fries and the falafel Pita with sweet potato fries. I originally wanted the Spinach Coconut Chickpea Curry and the owner/chef felt badly because there wasn't enough left. She threw in the "small" amount (which was actually quite a bit) free of charge. Since we were getting up early and heading back home, we took two breakfast burritos to go. It took us 3 days to eat them as neither of us could get through more than a third of it at any point. The portion sizes are HUGE and everything is very well priced! P.S. We also got two of the cold pressed juices which were a delightful...

The BEST vegan cheezesteak I've ever had...periodt. This review comes from a person who lived/worked in Philly & NJ and travels to multiple vegan festivals throughout the year.

Definitely Berks County's best kept secret for vegan/plant based food. I highly recommend checking them out 💯👍🏿

Pro Tip: I ordered my cheese steak simple...lion's mane 🦁 mushrooms, fried onions, vegan cheese, and ketchup (no sauce). It was absolutely delicious and filling 😋 waffle fries were on point too 🎯
