You guys are the worst….. is there even anybody in charge??

This place has really gone down hill. Made reservations for a birthday dinner at 5:30. There were 13 of us. We get there and our table isn’t ready. The hosts didn’t even know we had a reservation so we wait for a table. They set us up in the empty, dirty room for banquets. Dirty tables, vacuum right next to the table. No music, just dead silent. As they are setting up our table, we start to head into the room and are told, NOT YET! There was nowhere else for all of us to go. We had a bunch of balloons and a bunch of people and didn’t want to stand in the way in the lobby. The place was packed. We finally sit down. Nobody came for a drink order so a few of us go to the bar to order some drinks only to be told, we can’t order at the bar, wait for our server. So we wait and wait….. and wait some more! Finally our server comes in. We had been there about a half hour. Service was ok. We mentioned we needed our bill split up. He brought one check. Didn’t sing happy birthday or anything. We barely saw him the whole time. Fast forward to the following weekend. Another birthday dinner, same thing. This time it was only 6 people. We had reservations. Table wasn’t ready when we got there. Had to wait about 20 minutes and then another 15 for drinks after we sat down. Not sure what is going on with this place lately but it sucks. We have eaten here many times. This time we were a group of 8 people (4 couples). Had reservations, our table was ready for us. We started with chips and salsa, and cocktails, waitress didn't start with a ticket for each couple. The salsa was thin, and they had no draft beer 🤔. When we ordered our meals, waitress asked how many tickets and took orders by couples. One person ordered guacamole on a bed of lettuce and got a plate of lettuce with guacamole mixed in (weird). As for the food, it took a long time to get. Shrimp in several dishes was smaller than expected, bacon wrapped shrimp was overcooked. Two ordered soup and had a lot left, one got a to go cup that was way too small while the other got an adequate big cup. Then the check came, not divided by couple, and we were told to just split the check because the guy that could split it up was busy 🙄. We will probably try somewhere else next time... One more note. They have changed from round plastic tortilla keepers that stack on the table, to wood boxes with a raised handle, very...

My first time at Carlito's Mexican Restaurant. I was finishing my overnight business trip to Redding, starving and wanted Mexican food. Help's high rating brought me to Carlito's. And zyelp was spot on!

The food is great, from the crispy & not too hard tortilla chips, the excellent & not too sweet raspberry (?) tea, and to the wonderful chile Colorado. The entré was recommended by my waitress and the meat was tender and I loved the dark sauce it was swimming in, which I mixed in with the rice. Delicious!

Carlito's didn't get 5 stars due to the slightly slow, but very courteous, service and the restaurant was nearly empty. Maybe the waitress was conscious not to disturb me as I was catching up on work and was tapping away at my iPad while I ate.

I will return again for the great food, and maybe then Carlito's will get...
