Where do I start? I have been getting an ice cream cake for my birthday for many years, and Baskin Robbins has been the preferred place for me to get says cake from. I have followed them about town as the franchise changed hands and at one point required a journey to Red Bluff to garner said cake. The last few years I have been able to do business with this location next to Raley's. My cake this year was ordered online, and as the online interface lacks the ability to do any customization outside of the wording on the cake, each year I add in the notes I would like the fudge ganache icing. This is an up-charge from the pricing online and as such there is a small balance due to pick up the cake. This year the very angry sounding woman on the phone told me it would be $14.99, I said that was fine and she curtly asked if I was sure in a tone I would assume should be reserved for someone ordering a dish Thai hot or asking to see the ingredient list for all flavors of ice cream in the building. I again asserted that I accepted the additional cost and we hung up. Fast forward to today the 14th of the 2nd month, I went to get my cake. The counter was staffed by two rather distracted young ladies intent on discussing some bit of scheduling drama before helping me. When their dialog ended and one of them had fetched my cake the fun began. I do not know the identity of the slinger of scoops who was helping me so we will call her Katelyn for the purpose of this review. Katelyn exclaimed to her co-worker that I had only paid for half the cake, first off this is absolute poppycock as I had paid about 50 dollars and owed the 14.99, the second slinger told Katelyn she would help her in this endeavor. I watched the point of sale display ring up 65 dollars and change and then as she furiously attempted to whittle the amount to 14.99, at some point even telling Katelyn and or the register that it was a serious matter and exclaiming how rude when the system did not do as she desired. I looked Katelyn in the eyes and said, "Hey what if we ring up two banana royales as they are 7.50 a pop that will get us to 15 bucks?" Katelyn advised she needed to call someone so as to not get in trouble for ringing this up incorrectly. The call went on for quite some time, all the while my cake is sitting on the counter as Katelyn and her lifeline tried to find some combination of double or triple scoops that totaled the desired amount. I again advised her that two banana royales would do just fine. They finally settled on an arrangement that amounted to 14.28 and I was able to pay and escape. I asked why we had to waste that time and melt my cake when in the end the remedy was as I had witnessed before and asserted could be done. The moral of the story is this location has ice cream, they have cakes, they generally do not have respect for their customer's time nor...
