My husband and I were excited to try this place! It is located less than a mile from home and it had great reviews. When we visited, we were immediately greeted by the host and told we could select any available seat. The atmosphere was excellent and we were feeling great.
After we were seated, the host took our order for drinks. When asked about the hot Sake, he showed us what was available on their menu. We ordered some of their Sake and a glass of plum wine. The hot Sake was excellent and the wine was succulent. So far so good!
A short while later, a man walked up to our table without introducing himself (I assumed he was to be our server). He asked if our wine was the plum wine. We answered âyesâ and he then asked us if we were ready to order. My husband selected the Kung Pao Three Delight and I chose the Chicken Curry. This was our first time here, and we assumed that rice came with the meals. But our server asked us instead if we wanted rice with the order. We each requested steamed rice to go with (itâs only a dollar extra).
The wait was not very long before our host (not the server) delivered the meal to our table with only one side-order of rice (approx. 1 cup). We figured this would be fine, because we could just order more when the server came by to check on usâŚ
Except that never happened. Our server never once even came to check if our meal order had come out right, much less to ask if we wanted anything else, nor to refill our drinks. Instead he kept walking by, cleaning other tables, checking in on other people, and having some random conversations with the host about cigarettes. He had numerous opportunities to check on us (so hard to do), but he never once took the time to do so.
Our food had gone long cold before the server FINALLY came by to ask if everything was okay. I replied, âno itâs notâ; we wanted more rice, but at this point, our food is cold and all I want now is the check and a couple to-go boxes so I can reheat the food at home and cook my own rice. The server brought over two to-go boxes and the check with a âhere you goâ; no apologies or explanation. How rude! That was the last we saw of our server, as it was the host who brought back the receipt-to-sign.
This place has some great potential (the price is a little steep), but unfortunately without the complement of at least a decent server, we canât recommend it to anyone else. I rate this restaurant at two stars simply because the food was fantastic (but we could only eat part of it, because we needed more rice that we never got to ask for). Sorry, but this experience was rather awkward and quite embarrassing for us, and we wonât be coming back. There is a much (tons) better, just-as-far-away, Asian-cuisine-style restaurant called Chinese Village instead, where you get more bang for your buck on...
Read moreBEWARE! Saw a job advertising for a food packed on Craigslist so I went in. They offered me the job and on my first shift (not upon hiring) told me if I didnât pass within 3 days theyâd pay cash, no tips, and would take me off the schedule. Also asked if I had open availability, another job etc. bc they wonât be flexible.
So I work every day, make no mistakes, am on time, comfortable doing the work. They scheduled me 4 days so I thought cool Iâm in the clear.
Friday night Tammy sat at the bar vaping, sitting on boxes, loudly complaining about customers. The other server came in 30 minutes late bc of her other job. I was paid in cash and told not to come in for my shift Sunday bc theyâd be training someone but theyâd let me know my schedule on Monday- and then they never reached out! Theyâd rather keep people with no work ethic than actual employees. Extremely unprofessional- I do not recommend working or eating here! I spent less than 10 minutes interacting with the owner and when I reached out about her lack of professionalism she simply said I âdidnât passâ. No standards, no explanation.
This 100% seems like a scam to employ people for 3 days at minimum wage for theyâre busy to go order service before kicking them out. Shitty...
Read moreBest Chinese food in Reno. I can say that because I am Chinese myself. I don't just compare the food among Chinese restaurants in Reno but among all the Chinese food restaurants I ever ate, including those in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and many more. I tasted many Chinese cooking in America and most of them are cooking for Americans, not original Chinese. Many of them lost the original of Chinese cooking and to my opinion, taste like Chinese style hamburger. This one is so authentic and just right for American taste; that is hard to find. Definitely best in Reno and top on of list of all Chinese food I ever tasted in America. Chinese food looks for three major pleasures: color of the food meaning the presentation, smell of the food meaning whether the food brings out the appetite, taste of the food meaning the comfort of eating it. This place has them all. After the three major pleasures, then we talk about the cooking styles, skills, etc. Try this one, it is really good. Besides, not too expensive. The price is right. The only better restaurant I can think of will be in...
