I ordered Steak tenderloin dine in and 2 Australian lambs to go and also a gyro to go. I ate the steak it was so tender and delicious (I had the rice with it very aromatic and delicious) then, my lamb to gos took a bit long, so I opened the to go gyro that was already there and I wish I hadn’t, it looked so good and yummy that I ate it all even though I had just finished eating the steak souvlaki. I wanna say the gyro is just so light and fresh and amazing just loved it. I also liked that they brought the salad (that comes with the entrees) earlier and it was very fresh and I wasn’t totally anxious waiting for the plate.
It was their very first day so understandably they were figuring things out as well but I was very impressed given everything.
I also got the baklava, im writing this as I’m waiting for my to go lamb souvlakis, so can’t wait to get home and try the baklava with some tea perhaps.
Note: the streak doneness ran a little low (I ordered medium but it was medium rare), it actually went quite well with the steak, but if you are specific and strict with your doneness you might wanna order a bit higher doneness than you actually want. IMO, the medium rare that I got for ordering medium was actually perfect, I’d do that again.
Overall: Will definitely be back. Everything was delicious and fresh so if it stays like this, it’s gonna be a hit with the community.
Note: the lamb souvlakis that I had ordered to go and drove 15 minutes and waited another 5 before eating weren’t as good as the souvlakis that I ate in store but it surprised me on how tender it was even after 20 minutes and without heating it up. I even had some leftover lamb souvlakis with the rice that I ate the next day for lunch and I warmed it up in microwave and it was as if it’s fresh again very tender juicy and delicious I was pleasantly surprised cuz my expectation for the leftovers were actually low. I just have to say I got one of the lambs medium well for my mother in law, but as I predicted the medium was much much better...
Read moreI wish I could give this place 5 stars but unfortunately my experiences here have been too inconsistent. When this place first opened a few months ago my husband and I were going here 3-5 times per week because the food was amazing and the portion sizes were great! This restaurant chain is one of our FAVORITES in Las Vegas!! So when we saw they were in Reno we were so excited!! It started off FANTASTIC! Then over the course of the last 6 weeks everything has completely fallen apart. Six weeks ago my husband went in by himself for lunch and they gave him half the size portion they normally do, so he figured it was just a fluke. The following week we went in together and had a great experience. Then three weeks ago we came in for lunch and ordered the same thing we always do, a Great Greek Gyro and a Chicken Gyro. The amount of meat in my husbands gyro was half of what it normally is. So he mentioned it to the manager who went back to weigh the food and he came out and told my husband was correct. So they fixed it. No big deal. We gave it another try last week and this time it seemed the portion sizes were almost back to normal, but the girl working the counter was not very friendly. No big deal. So we order a to go pick up order tonight and get our food home. I only had 2 bite sized chunks of chicken in my gyro (maybe 1.5-2 ounces), 1/4 of the amount of veggies on it, and so much tzatziki sauce the pita bread was wet on my hands and falling apart. It was so light on fillings that the bread was almost flat like a quesadilla. My husband’s gyro had about 1/3 of the meat it should have and was also drowning in sauce.
Unfortunately, we are no longer going to be customers. We have gone from ordering 3-5 times a week to never ordering again. We work hard for our money and would be happy to spend it here if the restaurant would take the time to make sure their associates are trained properly to deliver a consistent product...
Read moreI very much wanted to like this place. We ordered a lamb gyro, tzatziki, dolmas, and a feta fry.
The fries were regular fries, so my partner went to the counter and they said they’d remake them.
It was late evening, four staff (a cook, two servers, and another guy who came out around closing time). They were not busy.
The food was a 6-7. Totally fine, except heavy on the red onions when we’d asked for light (but that could be very much an issue of perception) and the tzatziki didn’t seem to have any flavor. But not an issue really.
The girls were talking so, so much. Loudly gossiping, laughing, standing there leaning against a wall and doing nothing.
After awhile we had finished our meal with no fries. They didn’t know how to refund our money for the fries but the other guy had just come out and he was able to figure it out.
My guess is the two girls are high school students or something like that, and they really need supervision or to have just one on shift at a time.
I also saw another person pay with cash, and the cashier had to get a calculator to figure out the change. I fully recognize that people may have trouble with math, but I’ve never seen a POS system that didn’t show the amount of change due.
Long story short, the reviews say much the same thing - food needs more flavor, sometimes takes a really long time, and the cooking is often great but sometimes terrible.
This place has potential but they need to figure out which cooks are great, figure out how to have flavor (although maybe it’s a franchise and they can’t change recipes?), and handle staffing so the cashiers/servers are actually...
