Very sorry experience, even though the manager came by & comped my meal, I would be remiss to not give a review. I've been told how great Great Basin's brunch is so I decided to try it out. Boy, was I sorry. I should have suspected something was up when it wasn't busy on a father's day. So I arrived just before noon, my server was a very nice young lady, I asked for a brunch menu & she mentioned there was only 4 minutes left on that menu, which was surprisingly early to stop serving brunch as I've always known "brunch" to be between 10 am to 1 pm. Anyway I digress; after a couple of minutes she came back & said they were out of country gravy, so that kilked 2 possible choices. I was looking forward to brunch so I ordered the prime rib & eggs, it supposedly comes with sautéed onions yet they were barely cooked, not caramelized like they're supposed to be. To my greater dismay, instead of country potatoes I got tater-tots, as soon as I saw these I told the girl that brought me my plate, "if I wanted tater-tots, I would have gone to Sonic." I was very unhappy with the brunch so far, my over medium eggs barely had enough liquid yoke to get 1 toast dip. Speaking of toast, why don't they butter it? One has to do the deed themselves. Bobby came over & asked if there was anything he could do to make it right, I complained about the tots & onions & also mentioned how rediculus it was to not have enough country gravy especially on a father's day. As well as potatoes, ect. He seemed understanding of my complaints & comped my meal. He offered several times to have something else made for me but as my experience was already ruined it would have been fruitless, my meal wasn't salvageable. I ate what I could & left a tip for my server as it wasn't her fault for my poor experience. Bobby, thanked me again & apologized again. I shook his hand & hobbled off to my vehicle. I would be hard pressed to return to have brunch there ever again. I should have gone somewhere,...
Read moreRATING FOR TODAY IS ZERO (i know i did 5 on the actual rating)
This is a great place and the beer is great too. I would rate a 5 all day star but today is a zero-first time it has been a zero-I did add some great things below. I want the good things to stay. :)
Today; however, was not a good day. I would give a one star for service. I needed to wait I will under state the time- 10 minutes in curbside pick up. I called at 11:30 for a 12:30 pick up. I had to call 2 times and I could tell I was forgotten. Guess what? It is okay people make mistakes OR forget things. We are strong out of the pandemic and the place was slamming. I also got to watch my main Mommie Tommy Buns on YouTube. And Travis came out to talk to me. He asked what I wanted to make it right. I could have said many things. I appreciate the offer. Tip means To-Insure-Promptness. Tipped appropriately (12.5%) but not the normal - promptness did not happen. Please go here and try the food. The Chilebeso Beer is my favorite - 13 years ago my husband and I had a keg of it at our wedding. The food has also been upgraded in the past few years too! Keep our money local. one last thing-the French dip is amazing add provolone! BUT warning-eat it there to-go as they tried it spilled all over. My suggestion for a to-go cup is an actual small drink cup with a lid - better then then short cups filled to the top with the liquids. my truck seat...
Read moreA true Reno/Sparks classic and amazing brewery! Great Basin was started by a guy making beer in his garage.. beer that was so good he eventually opened his first brewery in Sparks. They are now so popular they have two restaurants, one tasting location, and sell their beer both locally and nationally! So you might be seeing the trend here that, well, they make REALLY GOOD BEER.
They have a few classic beers that they keep on tap year round and then have a fun seasonal menu that they rotate. One of my favorite seasonal beers is Bitchin' Berry, which I like to mix half and half with their classic Wheat Bear. They have beers for all different people, and have tasters as well so you can figure out what you like best!
Their food menu is awesome for a brewery. I appreciate that the menu has great variety, especially a fair amount of delicious, health conscious choices. They also offer weekly specials. And they make their own beer bread which is TO DIE FOR.
I have been going to their breweries, both Reno & Sparks locations, for years. Their staff is kind and timely, usually very knowledgeable about their beers, and if they don't know something they know who can help!! I love supporting local, and I love supporting amazing restaurants, so eating here is...
