Great cafe-style spot for brunch or lunch. Located in a new plaza in mid-south Reno this place was tucked away at the end of the new plaza home to a wine-bar, pizza bakery, coffee-shop and bean roaster, and more.
Food: $14 - Quiche of the Day with soup or salad (I chose the coconut carrot soup): the quiche was salmon and spinach and had shaved parmesan -like cheese on top. I loved the flavor and portion. I felt like the texture was a little soft/moist for my preference. I prefer a slightly more dry, or sponge like egg quiche but I still ate every bite. The quiche was good but of the four items we tried this was the least favorite. The crust also did it's job but not much more. I was hoping for it to be a little crispier and flaky.
Coconut Carrot soup (came with Quiche) - O.M.G. Wow. This was fresh, delicious, and probably the best of the four items we tried. Honestly I could have had three bowls. The texture and flavor was homemade perfection. I didn't want to add anything to it. I highly recommend this soup. My wife said she wished it came as a big bowl with some slider burgers or sandwiches on the side.
$17 - Blue Cheese Bacon Burger on Brioche served with a side like fries, salad, or potato salad (we got the potato salad): this burger captures the message written on the wall, "Salty and Sweet." The brioche bun mixed with the thick sliced almost crispy bacon really brought the burger together but I felt like they played it safe with the blue cheese. It could have used some more crumbles to really pop that flavor a bit but I do love blue cheese, so maybe I'm biased. Also the patty didn't really go to the edges of the bun all the way around so there was some bready bites. My wife loved the portion though and she thought it was the right size for her. I'm just a hungry guy. I do feel there should be an "extra patty" option for a couple dollars.
Potato salad - between this and the coconut carrot soup I feel the sides really stole the show. This was the freshest and best potato salad I've had in a long time. The dill and onion and perfect amount of dressing really brought the real crushed potato to life and I'm so glad we ordered this side dish.
The staff were attentive, answered my questions, and brought the food out quick.
The atmosphere was pleasant, had customers but wasn't overcrowded, and it was easy to find menus, clean tables, silverware, napkins, and they had complimentary orange 🍊 infused water.
Thank you for having us! We...
Read moreThis place is amazing, I had to write a review. The south Reno location had great customer service, friendly staff that genuinely enjoy their job. I came across this place by chance because an apartment close by. I am very glad I decided to stop in and grab some food. When I first walked in I could hear people laughing and talking, just enjoying themselves. Everyone were smiling, customers and staff. Very welcoming atmosphere. I ordered three different sandwiches, I couldn’t decide because everything looked so good. The food was fresh and the verity of flavor was fantastic. And yes I loved all three sandwiches (only ate half of each). I brought my son and daughter the rest, who are very picky eaters. They also enjoyed the food. The food was worth the price for sure. Thank you to the ladies that severed me. I will definitely go back and bring a few friends...
Read moreCheese Board has been around Reno for a long while now and I'm pleased to have another one in South Reno now. The service is friendly and prompt as it usually is in the California Ave. location. I stopped in for lunch and experience what was quite possibly the best cheeseburger that has ever been served in a restaurant. The ground chuck patty was flavorful and moist, the greens were crisp and most shockingly the brioche bun wasn't the usual trash served by nearly every other restaurant with brioche on the menu - it was soft and slightly fatty as a proper brioche should be. The only unfortunate aspect of this bacon jam topped delight is it's limited availability so be sure to order one if it happens to be...
