The server didn’t know the food well at all. He told us the half guacamole appetizer was big, he knew when he brought it out how wrong he was, it was like half an avocado. For $1.50 more, you can get the large which was a good size and presentation was very nice in a crispy flour shell. It was the worst guac I’ve ever had. It tasted like avocado with some tomatoes in it. That’s it. I really couldn’t taste any salt or lime or garlic or jalapeño all. I had to ask for salt and pepper and lime, I added a whole lime and it still needed more. Food was so bland and boring. The recommendations were not good, the servers need more education on the menu. Steak fajitas were sub par. Where’s the seasoning? Where’s the spice? Where’s the flavor? Where’s the acid balance of lime? Why the hell did I get a ramekin of shredded cheese with my fajitas? There’s no cheese in fajitas! Maybe some Cotija if you want but not shredded cheese blend. The refried beans were amazing, the presentation of the guac and sour cream in the shells were nice and creative. Season your food, stop making things that are for old white people who complain. Make real amazing food and just warn people on the menu that it might be spicy. Karen will know to stay away from them and order the taquitos and chimichanga. I see you have Al pastor and lengua, but I was scared to order it because everything seemed so whitewashed. Al pastor is life! If yours is good, make some mains with it and put it front and center...
Read moreRecently visited Miguel’s, at the Summit for lunch with a friend. We ordered Margaritas and shots. We enjoyed their good food but, the nice server got my order wrong, adding an additional item. When we were done eating, I mentioned to the server he had ordered 3 items for me in error. I had ordered the two item combination. I asked for an adjustment in the bill. When the server came back with our bill, he dropped it off, saying that, “because I didn’t complain when I noticed the error” that they would not adjust the bill. Really??? I didn’t eat the additional item…. Well, I asked for the manager. She was annoyed with my complaint. As I was explaining the situation, that I expected to pay the reduced/ adjusted bill. She was rude and immature in handling the situation. I pointed out that the one extra item they served me cost them less than 2$. No apology on their part. They were willing to lose a frequent customer over this? (I chose to spend my recent Bday dinner with 8 family members there) We ended up receiving an adjusted tab but, the experience was bad! So embarrassing that the manager felt she had to make an argument. I’ll be eating at their competitors establishment...
Read moreI am allergic to Green Bell Peppers. Ay Miguel's, I ALWAYS have the Steak Salad. Months ago I checked to make sure there were no green bells in it (was assured at the time they are not even part of the recipe). Today, they had a new chef who decided the salad needed them. Of course , when I ordered, I didn't ask (but I had been having this dish for months with no issue so I really didn't see any reason to ask). We discovered the peppers as I was eating the salad. Of course, Miguel's tried to do the right thing (they comped the salad and I did tell them it wasn't necessary). The rest of the meal was fine (in a "well Mrs Lincoln, other than the incident how was the play" kind of thing). That said, it will be a while before I return and I will probably never order the salad. Mostly, this post is two fold. First, for aspiring chefs, when you add ingredients to an established recipe there can be serious consequences (says the guy who is posting this between vomit sessions), so please consider that. Secondly, for those of us with allergies, we need to be vigilant (I let my guard down and now I am...
